On September 12, 2022, the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles played home to the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, which were hosted by Kenan Thompson. The presentation was preceded on September 3 and 4 by the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
Announcing the nominees took place on July 12, 2022. Hamish Hamilton directed the ceremony, which was made by Done and Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment. Succession’s series creator Jesse Armstrong accepted the award for Best Drama Series and Best Writing for a Drama Series spoke to the fact that this week has been a huge one for successions, likened their victory to King Charles III's, and invoked the British monarch's entrance to the throne. The whole Succession team is tremendously honored and happy for the acknowledgment, he continued, adding that he is not claiming that they are more legitimate in their position than where he is. They will leave that to the other people.
AMC's Better Call Saul, Apple TV+'s Severance, HBO's Euphoria, Netflix's Ozark, Squid Game, and Stranger Things, as well as Showtime's Yellowjackets, were among the others nominated in the category of Best Drama Series along with Succession.
