As famous as Rihanna is, there is surprisingly little that is known about her low-key relationship with A$AP Rocky. Her music is one of the best out there you could listen to in the modern era, and then there is very glamorous entrepreneurship which produces some of the most amazing makeup and clothes in the entire world. And yet you would not find many details about her relationship with the rapper. 

Here you get to see the relationship timeline of these two lovebirds and how they came to be together!

2011

The two first came together in 2011 to work together on a joint music project, "Cockiness (Love It)." The song was a joint collaboration of A$AP Rocky and Rhianna and was later featured in Rihanna's album Talk That Talk. They even got to perform it the following year on MTV Video Music Awards the following year in 2012. 

2013

While some fans would have speculated if the two were a thing back then, not many people thought them to be together. They kept things professional between themselves with occasional collaborations, and A$AP Rocky went to perform in Rihanna's Diamonds World Tour. He made up the first act for the North American show of the concert. 

2017

If there were barely any rumors of the two being together, things quickly fizzled out as both the singers were seen in intense relationships with their then partners, and several years passed, as such. For Rihanna, her partner a few years later in 2017 was Hassan Jameel, the famous billionaire, and Rocky was seen together with Kendall Jenner. The two even appeared together at the 2017 Met Gala, where Kendall wore her iconic black sheer fishnet gown. 

2018

While A$AP Rocky bids adieu to his previous partner, Rihanna is still together with Jameel. However, the potential couple sits together in the front row when attending the Louis Vuitton fashion show hosted in the Paris Fashion Week. And then, just a few months later, Rocky makes it to Rihanna's invite list for her annual Diamond Ball. The Ball is held in the support of the Clara Lionel Foundation and helps gather charity for education projects around the globe. Rocky was then again seen attending the Ball the next year in 2019. 

2019

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky now make a lot of buzz again as they appear for their first red carpet arrival together. They make sure to let their fans know that they are just friends and not a couple for being spotted together, but they did coordinate their outfits for the event, both wearing Fenty. 

January 2020

Rihanna and Hassan Jameel finally call it quits in January 2020, after being together for about three years, making space for Rocky to woo Rihanna. Rumors of the two being a couple soon follow the breakup and several outlets report their budding romance. 

A source told The Sun, "They shared a hotel suite during that trip in New York." "However, Rihanna is reluctant to put a label on it as it's so soon after Hassan. They're really enjoying each other's company and taking things easy as it's still early days," they added. 

And yet, there are other sources who insisted that RiRi was then enjoying some alone time, especially as she quit a long relationship with her former partner. A source stated through E! News, "Rihanna is single." They continued, "She just got out of a long, intense relationship with Hassan. She wants to be single and isn't going to jump into something. She's hanging out with ASAP Rocky, but she is not dating him."

August 2020

The two head forward with their professional journey and collaborate for Fenty Skin. They even appeared in a video together promoting her brand with GQ, where they appear to be very close and friendly with each other. The highlight of the video is A$AP Rocky saying that he cares for skincare, unlike many other men who think it's beneath them. 

Talking about men and Skincare, Rihanna said, "Men love their skin, and they take care of it, but they feel obligated almost to only use products that are for men because anything beyond that feels too feminine, it's not for them. They're not allowed. they don't have permission."

To this, Rocky added, "I had to discover face cleansing and skincare all at the same time when I was a young buck in the shower." Rocky added. "You can't wash your body with the same rag you wash your face with. I was lucky enough to be the type of guy that wants to wash my face," he conceded.

December 2020

About a year into their rumored relationship, several new details about their love life come forward. A source shared with People, "They've been inseparable the past few weeks." "It's a new relationship, but they both seem very into it. They've always seemed to have a great time together. They have a lot in common. They both are very much about helping out in the communities where they grew up. A$AP is generous, and so is Rihanna. A$AP is known for being a great guy," continued the insider. 

The two, however, chose to keep their love under wraps and did not comment on their relationship status. An insider revealed to Entertainment Tonight, "They've known each other for so long as friends and in a work setting, which makes it so easy for them to get along, travel together, and be involved in each other's lives to the full extent." They added, "They always have such a good time together and definitely seem in love."

April 2021

After Rihanna was spotted shoes, Amina Muaddi x AWGE LSD Gladi Thigh Heel, designed by A$AP in January 2021, they appeared together on a date in Los Angeles. A source of Us Weekly revealed after the couple was seen wearing matching leather 'fits, "Things changed over the summer, and they finally hooked up. They've been together ever since." 

May 2021

Their relationship is finally made public when A$AP admits that he loves Rihanna to GQ. Apart from calling her "my lady" and "the love of my life," he said, "I met myself" on the trip that he took with her. "Being able to drive and do a tour without feeling like it was an occupation or an obligated job agreement, I feel like that experience is like none other. I never experienced nothing like it."

He also added that everything was "So much better when you got the One," referring to Ri. "She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She's the One." 

2022

The two are now said to be pretty serious and are also looking to expand their family. Hollywood Life reported that wedding bells are imminent for the couple. A source shared, “Rocky has a great relationship with Rihanna’s family, and it’s only a matter of time before he proposes. Rihanna realizes her clock is ticking, and as much as she wants kids, she has a very full plate with all her businesses.”

While A$AP is ready to have kids “when the time is right," it isn't their immediate concern. The insider added, “Rihanna isn’t stressing about it though and, if it’s meant to happen, it will happen. Either way, she knows that Rocky would make an amazing father.” Another source shared with the outlet, ”Rocky loves Ri. That is obvious. His goals with Ri are to have a relationship that takes them to marriage, takes them to kids but wants to take them to a foundation first where they are in a great place to get there in the first place, and that is currently the case with them.”
