Adult Swim has cut their ties with Justin Roiland.
On January 12, NBC News was the first to disclose that Justin Roiland had been accused in Orange County of one count of domestic assault with corporal injury and one count of unlawful imprisonment by threat, violence, forgery, or deception stemming from an alleged 2020 altercation with an unidentified Jane Doe that Justin Roiland was dating. Justin Roiland did not plead guilty and was released on a $50,000 bond in August 2020 and arraigned in October 2020. Several preliminary hearing hearings already have taken place, and Justin Roiland is arranged to appear in court on April 27.
According to NBC News, a restraining order filed in October 2020 and recorded in court minutes stated that Justin Roiland is not to harass, endanger, or spy on the individual called in the order of protection. The order lasts up to October 2023 and it is unknown who submitted the request for the order. Under a protective order, details of the case, such as police body cam footage, police reports, abuse inquiry reports, hospital records, and question-and-answer session recordings, are presently being kept from the general public. The affidavit supporting Justin Roiland's arrest has also been sealed.
T. Edward Welbourn, Justin Roiland's attorney, said in a statement that it is difficult to emphasize how incorrect the recent media attention to this circumstance has been. To be clear, Edward said that Justin is not only innocent, but they anticipate this case to be dismissed once the district attorney's department has finished its systematic and logical examination of the evidence. The statement continued that they look forward to clearing Justin's name and assisting him in having to move forward as soon as possible.
Following the news of domestic violence accusations against Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland that were filed in in Orange County, California, Adult Swim has supposedly cut all ties with him. In a statement issued on Tuesday Marie Moore, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang senior VP communications asserted that Adult Swim has ended its relationship with Justin Roiland after the accusations against him were brought to light. She noted that Adult Swim distributes Rick and Morty which is one of the blockbuster adult animation comedies that Justin Roiland co-created and also served as executive producer for the show along with voicing both the titular Rick and Morty.
Reports suggested that Adult Swim is not even halfway through a huge 70-episode sequence for the tv series, which is one of the company's most popular shows and was commissioned by the stream in 2018. Rick and Morty will keep going, according to sources, with Justin Roiland's voice roles being recast. It has now been noted that Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon will serve as the only show runner, tho Justin Roiland will be credited as a co-creator of the show, which has been recently extended for a tenth season.
Justin Roiland, who was working on several Hulu projects, including serving as a co-creator on the streaming company's Solar Opposites, wherein the he voices a main character, has now been let go. Justin Roiland had also been fired from Koala Man, in which he performs voiceover work and serves as an executive producer. The show premiered on January 9th. Hulu, the US network, announced Wednesday that it has decided to end its relationship with Justin Roiland, but the shows will keep going without him.
Justin Roiland's unique voice, which he incorporated with stressed stuttering, increased shrieks, and the occasional belch, became one of Rick and Morty's distinctive characteristics. Justin Roiland also provided the voices for several of Rick and Morty's side character types; he was as essential to the show just as how Dan Castellaneta is to The Simpsons.
Rick and Morty are blessed with the benefit of an infinite universe, in addition to the endless possibilities of sci-fi, so there's always the possibility of resetting either character with an entirely different tonality and performance and trying to explain the distinction through an alt dimension individuality or voice amplitude modulation. Squanch Games, a video game studio, also declared on January 24th that Justin Roiland, the studio's co-founder, had decided to resign as of January 16.
