Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are on "hiatus."

Following the news of the "secret romance" between Good Morning America’s journalists Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, ABC News President Kim Godwin made a call to put the duo on "hiatus."

During Monday's episode of Good Morning America's spin-off, temporary co-hosts Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez sat at the desk next to Dr. Jennifer Ashton, prompting the audience to speculate that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were on a break.

Stephanie Ramos did mention that the duo, Amy Robach, and T.J. Holmes, were taking a day off, and Gio Benitez continued that they are glad to be there and excited for everyone to begin the week on GMA 3. Stephanie Ramos, who is an ABC News correspondent and served in the U.S. military, and Gio Benitez, who is also an ABC News correspondent and covers transportation, are said to be the anchors stepping in for Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes for a while.

According to a source, the decision to put Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes on hiatus was announced during a routine staff call on Monday, which was led by ABC News President Kim Godwin, and another source mentioned that Good Morning America had decided to have a period of cooling off. They added that the management believed that it was unwanted attention, so their stepping away would be best.

An insider mentioned that Kim Godwin shared with the staffers that, after a lot of thought, she would like to share that they have decided to take Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes off air as they all figure out a way to deal with the unwanted attention. Kim had stated that the alleged affair between the two of them was not a violation of company policy, but taking them off the air for some time until everything cools off is essential for the brand.

According to multiple sources, the alleged affair between the two anchors really hasn't gone down well with top Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, who is not really very religious but then also does not want the show tarnished by this kind of controversy. According to a source, after learning about the secret romance, Robin Roberts "decided to pull the couple aside and primarily said, 'Stop it.'"

Kim Godwin also told staffers in Monday’s call that she has taken the last few days to think about and work through what she thinks is best for the ABC News organization. She said that the situation is something she will not talk adding that they will not be talking about it on this call until there is more to be said. Kim asked the employees to stop whispering in the hallways explaining that they know that they can’t operate with gossip, speculation, and rumors. She asserted that they need to stay focused on the work.

Amy and T.J. have been on ABC since 2014, and they started co-hosting GMA 3: What You Need to Know in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic. On Nov. 30, photos of the two engaging in PDA all through November surfaced during a report published by Daily Mail. Viewers were surprised to know of the romance as neither journalist had officially revealed their divorces from their respective spouses, but a source validated that they had separated in August.

Amy Robach's husband, Andrew Shue, has removed all photographs of Amy Robach from his Instagram page, and it's been reported that the pair had been waiting for their divorce to be finalized before publicly stating their separation. According to an ABC insider, the connection between Robach and Holmes was well known. They claimed there were many internal dissenters because of the duo (now possibly a couple) was flirty.

A source told ET that their absence from GMA3 is a step to settle things down and is not part of any disciplinary measures because the two are giving consent to coworkers who are equals. However, their love story that's all anyone at ABC News can talk about. Employees are filled with conflicting feelings, according to the insider, since these two are widely regarded within the company whilst being two consenting adults living their lives. Everyone was waiting for the superiors to step in, but now they have, it's a waiting game, according to the source.

However, new reports suggest that the executives at Good Morning America were delighted with the ratings that Amy and T.J.'s love story helped bring to the show, but that they're already on hiatus. According to sources, it's not a nervous effect, but maybe something happened, and Amy is attempting to blame coworker Lara Spencer. According to the insider, Lara was enraged that Amy Robach was seen as by bosses as Robin's heir apparent, and it was obvious that Amy might have stepped in, but Lara Spencer would like the gig and has not forgotten it. According to a separate source, Lara Spencer is rooting for Amy Robach.
