The 57-year-old Andy Serkis has joined the on-screen adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm. Serkis revealed the details while appearing at an interview with Wired for the promotion of his upcoming superhero film Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which is scheduled to release next week in the theaters.

The English actor shared that he will next be seen directing the adaptation of the classic George Orwell's novel Animal Farm. He said, "I've got a whole bunch of movies that are kind of in development, but what comes up, likely, [will be] Animal Farm, I think is probably the next thing that I'm doing. George Orwell's Animal Farm. That is actually currently in the early works of being developed into a movie."

Animal Farm is a fictional tale first published on 17 August 1945 in England. The novel is written by George Orwell. It is about the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer with a mission to create a fair and free society where they are treated equally with respect. The film takes a turn when it eventually turns into a dictatorship.

Actor/director Andy Serkis will also be seen portraying the role of Batman's mentor Alfred in the upcoming The Batman film. Batman is a superhero film that centers on the fan-favorite comic book character Batman. The film is inspired by Detective Comics.

It is produced by the American film studio Warner Bros. subsidiary DC Films and will be distributed by film production and distribution company Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie has a huge role in Detective Comics Extended Universe (DCEU) as it will reboot the Batman franchise and set the foundation for future upcoming projects in the superhero universe. The Batman will release in theatres on 4th March 2022, after a long delay due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The film features Andy Serkis in the role of Alfred alongside Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton also known as Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Barry Keoghan as Stanley Merkel, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot also known as Penguin, Alex Ferns as Commissioner Pete Savage and Con O'Neill has been cast in an unknown role.

Recently, Serkis spoke with Screen Rant sharing about his experience and expectations while working with Matt Reeves for the Dark Knight film. The Marvel actor said, "I've been totally forbidden to speak about The Batman, of course," Serkis began. "But what I will say is that I'm pretty certain Matt Reeves, who is a very dear friend of mine and of course we've worked together on the Planet of the Apes movies, I know for a fact he's making a pretty amazing picture. I really think it's going to be special."

Prior to Serkis's comments on Matt Reeves and the film, he also shared some important and major detail in another interview regarding his character Alfred Pennyworth, who is the mentor and a close friend of the Caped Crusader. Serkis during the interview also explained how his character Alfred's relationship will play out with Batman in the movie.

He said, "I would say that's not far from the truth," the star said. "It's very much about the emotional connection between Alfred and Bruce. That's really at the center of it. And it is a really exquisite script that Matt has written."

Serkis was quick to add some kind words about Michael Caine's rendition of the character in previous films. "He [Caine] was fantastic. His Alfred was legendary, I couldn't even begin to go there, really. You find it for yourself. It's like playing these iconic roles in Shakespeare, you go back, you revisit them and you have to make it your own, and see what it is about the character that connects with you and your personal Venn diagram,"

Andy Serkis is leading Sony Pictures Venom Let Be There Be Carnage as the director with film star Tom Hardy as Venom also known as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison, Reid Scott as Dan Lewis, Stephen Graham as Mulligan, Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady also known as Carnage.

Venom's star Tom Hardy made headlines after his statement in one of the interviews while promoting the film. He said, "With all of these symbiotes, you know, you consider it. You read the comic books and it is extreme, but that's not what we're here to do. We came here to make a movie which, and correct me if I'm wrong, I mean, there's a law and a rule into creating a movie that's accessible to a lot of people, as well as that caters for everybody, including the hardcore fans. So I hope the hardcore fans at least take home that they look at Carnage and go, 'Yeah, I recognize Carnage from the comic books. I'm happy with that.' And yeah, no, we didn't bite everybody's head off, but we did stick a tongue down someone's throat pretty... and managed to come in at a level of rating which is reputable so that grandma can come but also I'll come watch it too."

Andy Serkis serves as the director of the much-anticipated film, who is also an actor and producer. It is produced by film production giant Columbia Pictures in partnership with Marvel Studios and Tencent Pictures. Sony Pictures will be responsible for the distribution of the film.

Sony Pictures Venom: Let There Be Carnage will release in theaters on 15th October 2021.

Serkis has worked in various blockbuster films and shows such as The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), King Kong in the eponymous 2005 film, Caesar in the Planet of the Apes reboot series (2011–2017), The Adventures of Tintin (2011), Star Wars The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars The Last Jedi (2017), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Black Panther (2018) and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.
