The authorities have ruled out the cause of death of Anne Heche, who recently passed away after a devastating car accident at the age of 53.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner- Coroner, the 53-year-old actress Anne Heche, who was recently involved in a devastating car accident earlier this month, passed away from inhalation of smoke and thermal injuries.

The statement stated that Anne Heche's cause of death was categorized as an accident and added that one of the serious injuries she sustained as a result of the accident was a sternal fracture brought on by blunt trauma. According to the NLM, crashes account for 60–90% of all sternal fractures, and the incidence increases threefold when seatbelts are worn. This is probably because of deceleration forces.

On August 5th, Anne Heche was engaged in an automobile accident when her Mini Cooper slammed into a house in Mar Vista, Los Angeles. Both the house and the car caught fire. Around 10:56 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the report. According to a news release, it took 59 firefighters roughly 65 minutes to put out the fire and remove Anne Heche from the driver's seat.

The actress was taken in for medical treatment and slipped into a coma for the following week before it was declared on August 12,  that there was a very few chance of the actress' survival and she was later declared legally dead in the state of California. However, Anne Heche's heart continued to beat until Sunday to fulfill her wish for her organs to be donated. On August 14, the actress was removed from the life support system and she finally bid adieu to the world.

Following Anne Heche's death, an agent for the actress gave People magazine a statement that said that with Anne Heche's passing away, the world has lost a bright light, a kind and joyous person, a loving mother, and a devoted friend. The statement said that Anne Heche will be greatly missed, but she will continue to live on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, her ardent activism, and her courage in always standing up for the truth. The representative said that even though she is no longer physically present, her message of love and acceptance will live on.

Homer, Anne Heche’s 20-year-old whom she shares with ex-husband Coleman Laffoon, shared a tribute to his late mother in which he wrote that after six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, he was left with a deep, wordless sadness as his mother had passed away. Homer added that he hopes that his mother is free from the pain and beginning to explore what he’d like to imagine as her eternal freedom. Homer assured her that he would be okay and said that he is surrounded by family, including his father and stepmother, who are his rocks during such a devastating time.

He added that she came in hot and she had a lot to say. She was never afraid to let the world know what she thought and believed in.
