Produced under the banner of DC Films, in association with The Safran Company and Atomic Monster Productions and a part of DC’s version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DCEU (DC Extended Universe) and a sequel to Aquaman released back in 2018, the upcoming superhero epic Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’s star Dolph Lundgren says the 44-year-old filmmaker James Wan this time with Aquaman 2 “is just going to blow everybody” by every aspect of the movie that he has worked hard on to make it the best and stand out from its predecessor as well as other films.

Set to mark the return of stars like Jason Momoa and the much controversial actress, Amber Heard, because of her whole fiasco with Pirates of the Caribean Seas actor Johnny Depp, the long-anticipated film will once again take the viewers in Arthur Curry’s underwater world where he would be facing some new, different and difficult challenges and supervillains in his journey of discovering the truth and mystery behind the destruction and disappearance of the ancient city known by the name of Atlantis, once capital to the inglorious Atlantean Empire. The DC superhero in his mission to dwell and uncover the secret surrounding the great city will be accompanied by Mera and some of his friends.

“That whole picture is just a class act. Everybody from James Wan and Jason Momoa to Amber Heard and the producers. I think this one is better. I think the script is stronger and it’s more exciting. The technology has moved forward in four years, so I was really pleased to be a part of it. James Wan is just going to blow everybody away again by this tremendous world that he creates. He’s involved in every little detail, even every little piece of every weapon, and I think it’s going to be great,” Lundgren said to The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview, explaining that James Wan’s led Aquaman 2 is indifferent “class of act,” describing the script of the film as much more “stronger” and “exciting” from its predecessor Aquaman. According to the actor, Wan has really tried all of his weapons on the movie by going and focusing into every minute detail of it, making it the best and something that is definitely going to blow away the fans when they watch it.

While Dolph Lundgren’s comments suggest that the director has gone all, to make the second Aquaman film really special and crazy that the fans will love and appreciate, weeks ago similar comments were also made by none other than Momoa himself, where he said that there is lot more comedy involved in the film and the fans are expecting a lot from it and he feels the film is going to deliver all of that. "Like, it's... we all learned something on the first one. It's exciting because I haven't made too many sequels, even on the page, it's absolutely wonderful, there is so much going on. I think the stakes are a lot higher, there's a lot of comedy. So, I mean, I giggled reading it," he said.

"I think just in the last three or four years, just technology's constantly... it's just moving at such a rapid pace that what we're doing with underwater... I mean, that's what made the first one so amazing, so, it's just gone on to a whole other level, so I'm excited for everyone. Because it's just a lot more heart. There's a lot more at risk," he added.

Despite being in some kind of development since 2019, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’s filming really kicked off in June 2021, because of a lot of delays that it had to face because of the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic around the globe. Marking Jason Momoa’s return in the role of Arthur Curry also known as Aquaman and Amber Heard in the role of Mera, the film also stars other actors, while some are returning like Patrick Wilson in the role of Orm Marius also known as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren in the role of King Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of David Kane also known as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison in the role of Thomas Curry, and Randall Park in the role of Doctor Stephen Shin, others are set to debut in the superhero-based franchise such as Jani Zhao in the role of Stingray, Indya Moore in the role of Karshon, Vincent Regan in the role of Atlan, Regan in the role of Graham McTavish and Pilou Asbæk.

The film will serve as the 13th entry in DCEU, being inspired by comic book runs based around the Arthur Curry, is currently set to hit the theaters on December 16, 2022, only if everything goes well for it and the situation around the Pandemic improves, allowing the fans to enjoy the movie in theatres.
