Armie Hammer confesses to being emotionally abusive to women in his first post-scandal interview

During his first post-scandal interview with Air Mail, Armie Hammer decides to open up about the allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against him nearly two years ago. Armie Hammer's problems had become public in January 2021, when many women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and shared accusation messages from the star centered on BDSM and cannibalistic fantasies.

During the interview, Armie Hammer revealed that a youth pastor assaulted him when he was 13 years old and that his involvement in BDSM largely stems from that abuse. The actor clarified that what that youth pastor did to him was to unveil sexuality into his life in an uncontrollable way. Armie stated that he was completely helpless and had no authority in the situation and that sexuality was introduced to him in a terrifying manner over which he had no control. His aspirations then started to shift to having sexual authority over the situation.

According to Air Mail, Hammer told about the abuse to an old friend, who has now died, and his godmother, Candace Garvey, who acknowledged the account to the publication. In response to the allegations that changed his life, the actor stated that he just walked out onto the ocean and started swimming out as far as he could and wished either that he would drown, or may have been hit by a boat, or was attacked by a shark. Then Armie said that he remembered that his kids were still on the beach, and he couldn't give up on them.

One of the most serious allegations leveled against Armie Hammer came from a woman named Effie, who was linked to the House of Effie social media account. She asserted they had a long relationship and that the actor had sexually assaulted her. Effie previously spoke out at a press conference in 2021, accusing Armie Hammer of being mentally, emotionally, and sexually abusive to her during their on-again, off-again four-year relationship. At the time of the alleged affair, Armie Hammer was married to Elizabeth Chambers.

The Air Mail piece, however, contradicts the claims of Effie as one of the writers said the publication acquired instant messages that Effie sent to Armie Hammer's former wife, in which she supposedly detailed the affair and wrote that she was pretty much chasing the actor. Then, just days before the Armie Hammer scandal broke, Air Mail reports that Effie sent a personal message to an Instagram follower in which she stated that her sex with Armie Hammer was "consensual," adding that he was "such an amazing daddy," and that he was "not dangerous." Effie also wrote that he never raped anyone in a text message to another follower who asked if she had "legal representation" the next day along with responding that she is not saying he raped her; no need for a legal rep.

Effie later claimed that Armie Hammer sexually assaulted her, but the actor told Air Mail that the time they had sex, which she referred to as "rape," was a "scene" planned. He explained that Effie planned every detail, right down to which Starbucks he'd see her at, how he would follow her home, how her front door would be open and unlocked, and he would walk in, and they would engage in what's known as a "consensual non-consent scene," or "CNC". Armie noted that everything was planned ahead of time and he has never done this to someone unexpectedly. Never.

Addressing the allegations made by Paige Lorenze and Courtney Vucekovich, Armie Hammer admitted to Air Mail that the power dynamics were off and that revealed that he was definitely emotionally abusive to the women. The actor continued that he would have these younger women in their mid-20s, and he was in his 30s and at the time, he was a successful actor. Armie said that they could have been content just to be with him and said yes to things they might not have said yes to on their statement that there is a power imbalance in the situation.

Armie said during the interview that he led a very extreme and excessive way of life, stating that he would pick up these women, bring them into this whirlwind of travel and drugs and sex and big emotional responses flying around, and afterward, as soon as he was done, he'd just drop them off now and move on to the next woman, deciding to leave that woman feeling neglected or used. The actor told Air Mail that he is ready to begin over, adding that he is here to own his wrong decisions, accept liability for being an asshole, selfish, and manipulating others to make himself feel better, and then move on. He claimed he treated the people worse off than they surely deserves.

Talking about his health right now, Armie said he is healthy, happy, and more balanced person now and he can be there for the kids in a way he never could before. Armie continued that he can be there for his father as he passed away in ways he would never have been able to be so he is thankful for his life, recovery, and everything and would not undo everything that has happened to him.

During the interview, the actor asserted that he is now looking to find meaning in his recovery from addiction journey by acting as a sober mate to a colleague recovering addict he met recently. He stated that he plans to move in with him and live with him, create a regular schedule of recovery meetings for him, take him to the gym, and prepare healthy meals for him. He also reportedly stated his recovery has continued to progress from him needing assistance staying sober to him being capable of assisting others. Armie Hammer then confirmed a Vanity Fair report that Robert Downey Jr. visited him in rehab.

Armie Hammer explained that there are examples all around him, including Robert, of people who went through all those things and found forgiveness by following a different path, and he believes that's what's lacking in this cancel-culture, woke-mob company. Finally, he stated that anyone who commits something mistaken is discarded. There is no possibility of recovery.
