Katherine Hernandez bids goodbye to Euphoria.

Actress Barbie Ferreira, who played the role of Katherine Hernandez on HBO’s successful and popular show "Euphoria," won’t be returning for season three.

On Wednesday, Barbie Ferreira took to her social media to share fan art of her character drawn by co-star and friend Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules Vaugn on the show. She wrote that after four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character, Kat, she is having to say a very teary goodbye to her character.

Barbie Ferreira continued that she hopes that the audience could see themselves in her character like the way she did and that she brought joy by seeing her character’s journey into the character she is today. Barbie Ferreira concluded that she put all her care and love into playing Katherine Hernandez, and she hopes that the audience could feel it and added a love note to Katherine Hernandez.

Barbie Ferreira, back in April, spoke to Entertainment Tonight about why her character was not featured in the second season of the show as much as the audience expected her to be since her character is strong and bold. Barbie Ferreira told the publication that there is a huge cast and so the makers decided to showcase everyone. Everyone gets their time.

Sam Levinson, the show's creator and director, and Barbie Ferreira were rumored to not get along as season two premiered. Some viewers assumed that Sam cut her out of the show or purposely reduced her screen time, but she dispelled those rumors when she spoke to the Insiders and said that what's more interesting about the second season is that there are so many more eyes on it that even the news media is paying attention.

Since she knows it's just out of passion, curiosity, and other good things, Barbie continued that sometimes things take on a life of their own, and they're not rooted in the truth, but it's OK because she knows it's just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff, and she knows it's just out of she had signed up for it, so she is going to accept it. Both the good and the nasty will do, she said. When questioned about what is in store for Kat in season 3 at the time, Barbie Ferreira said that viewers would have to watch to find out and added that she didn't want to reveal too much. When asked who she would want to spend more on-screen time with, Barbie responded that she would like to have scenes with Lexi on the show's Maude Apatow, the actress who portrays Lexi on the program, and she commented that Lexi and Kat would make a cute little friend duo.

Nothing was made certain on whether Barbie left the show willingly was asked to leave the show due to the tension between him and Sam Levinson but now according to a report from Page six, an insider who had worked on the second season of Euphoria confirmed the hearsay during an interview with radio host Zach Sang that the actress was having a lot of problems with creator about her character's development and more which could have led to her exit. The insider continued that Sam Levinson is a very specific type of director and Barbie was not able to handle it and couldn’t handle the heat in the kitchen. The source also shared that Sam would do whatever it takes to get the right emotions out of the actors while they were filming because he needed to portray the right kind of emotion on-screen and that's his thing and some could define it as a disaster. The source also shared that Barbie who has cats did not care to clean the trailer that was full of cat piss everywhere and mentioned that it was the attitude of the actress that maybe got her to leave.

According to the source, when the young actors are chosen at random from the streets (auditions) by the queen and casting director Jennifer Venditti, their egos soar to the ceiling that they don't consider to be a task they are required to perform. While Barbie never really commented on Sam's behavior towards her, every other actor who had the chance to talk about their experience has only praised the director for bringing out the best in them and making the audience fall in love with their characters which has flaws.

Season 1 introduced viewers to Kat's decision to embrace her sexuality by launching an online sex business. Before their narrative turned bad, she also started dating Austin Abrams' character Ethan, who also portrayed Kat's companion in the second season.

Austin Abrams talked about Kat and Ethan's relationship during an interview with Entertainment Tonight about the season 2 finale. He expressed his hope that there was still more to be done with Kat and said that if there was, it would be interesting to see what Ethan and Kat would look like given how different the character would feel and have more time to reflect after ending the relationship. Euphoria received a third season renewal earlier this year after following a record-breaking premiere and ongoing rating success for the show's sophomore season.

In addition to “Euphoria,” actress Barbie Ferreira recently starred in the 2020 film “Unpregnant” and made an appearance in Jordan Peele’s horror film “Nope.”
