The Holiday season is upon us, and it is time to lounge on your favorite spot in the living room while the family gathers around and binge-watch Christmas movies. Hollywood has come with some serious phenomenal works where holiday cinema is concerned, capturing the essence, love, and warmth you would want to watch in a holiday flick. Hence, here is a list of the best Christmas movies from over the years and the legendary stars who starred in the pictures, along with where they are now!

Love Actually - starring Thomas Brodie

The British cinematic masterpiece is a Christmas rom-com by filmmaker Richard Curtis. The London-based film elves the life of Sam and his struggle with conquests of love. While the story initially begins off with ten distinctive tales about people and their love affairs, the plot soon pulls together, showing how the story is very interlaced. The film builds up an intense countdown to the holidays building up the Christmas spirit. 

The lead character of the story is played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who has starred as a voice actor for Ferb on the hit animated show Phineas and Ferb since 2007, running all the way to 2015. The actor has also received acclaim for his roles in Game of Thrones, Godless, and The Queen's Gambit. He also went on to portray the character of Newt in Maze Runner and is now all set to appear in Unsinkable as Officer Hawkins. 

Elf - starring Daniel Tay

A rather imaginative narration of a boy's life who grew up among elves on the North Pole, the Elf is a Christmas time adventure of a man longing to meet his biological father as he braves a world he knows nothing of. Daniel Tay portrays the character of the half-brother of Buddy and gets to play Michael Hobbs. 

The actor progressed to star in many other pictures like Doogal, Beer League, and Brooklyn Rules before he shared that he will forever be quitting the world of acting. After his initial announcement in 2009, the star did return to the cinema, once again in 2017, when he once again appeared in Doogal, where he voiced an episode of AniMat’s Classic Reviews. The former actor also pursued a degree from Yale University and carried on to follow a career as an SAT tutor. 

The Santa Clause 2 - Spencer Breslin

The Santa Claus franchise is a great film series to watch with your family this holiday season, and if you have already watched it, just more the reason to watch the fantastic festive collection again. The Christmas comedy-drama shows a man accidentally leading Santa to fall from a chimney and get injured. Hence, he and his son get to fulfill the duties of Father Christmas, which are not exactly very easy. 

Spencer Breslin stars in the second installment of the franchise as elf No. 2, Curtis, and then also gets to work again in the third film in the franchise, The Escape Clause. The actor has also gone on to work in Teamo Supremo and Center of the Universe, The Cat in the Hat, Raising Helen, The Shaggy Dog, Stuck in Love, Some Kind of Hate, and External Forces. The actor is brother to the famous actress and singer Abigail Breslin. The Breslin brother also owns his own label recording company and is a part of the Broken Machine Band. 

Another child actor from The Santa Claus franchise to receive immense stardom is Liliana Mumy. The actress starred in The Santa Clause 2 and 3. She has maintained a great movie streak, appearing in Cheaper, Santa Buddies, and The Loud House Movie. But apart from her successful acting career, she also enjoys amazing voice acting role credits, beginning with Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Catscratch, Powerpuff Girls Z, Higglytown Heroes, Chowder, Winx Club: Power of Believix, Bravest Warriors, and The Loud House. Just earlier this month, the actress announced that she has gotten engaged to  @ben.h.p

Jack Frost - starring Joseph Cross

Jack Frost had failed to create an impression on the box office when it was first released in 1998, but the film has grown to a considerable degree of popularity in recent years. Not your normal, cheerful Christmas comedy, Jack Frost deals with a sad theme as a child who lost his father on Christmas Eve tries his hands at a bit of magic, recalling his dead father back as a snowman. 

Joseph Cross portrays the character of Charlie Frost, the son of Jack Frost. The actor received critical acclaim for his succeeding works such as As the World Turns, The O’Keefes, Big Little Lies, and Mindhunter. Cross has also appeared in Homecoming, Flags of Our Fathers, Milk, Citizen Gangster, The Last Film Festival, Mank, and Licorice Pizza. He has also tried his hands at directing films by releasing his work Summer Night in 2019. 

It's a Wonderful Life - Karolyn Grimes

If there is one movie that has totally managed to capture the charm and essence of Christmas, it definitely has to be a Hollywood classic, It's a Wonderful Life. The film starred Karolyn Grimes as Zuzu, the daughter of George, played by Jimmy Stewart, and Mary Bailey, played by Donna Reed. Grimes has since then enjoyed a successful career with her subsequent debuts in The Bishop’s Wife, Rio Grande, Honeychile, and The Ford Television Theatre. 

As It's a Wonderful Life continues to be a Christmastime cultural phenomenon, Grimes continues to bask in the glory of her character. She even released her very own Zuzu Bailey’s It’s a Wonderful Life Cookbook.
