It is the season for the Bachelor stars to dump their old flames and get together with new people! Recently, Bachelor Nation fans got quite the shock when the news of Katie Thurston getting along with John Hersey started circling the internet. While the fans were definitely not expecting the two to come together, the news came as a big shocker for Blake Moynes himself!
An insider of the former couple told Us Magazine that Blake feels quite betrayed by the revelations and did not take the news well. The source said, “Blake is blindsided by the news,” as he learned that his ex-fiancee is now back with a contestant from the show.
Hence, the star, aged 31, ended up unfollowing Katie Thurston on social media but has not yet talked about the fallout publicly. While the wildlife manager is yet managing a low profile without revealing much, his mother, Emily Moynes kind of made her stand on the issue clear. The lady liked a comment on November 23rd Thursday where a fan accused Katie of deception and betrayal.
The comment read, “Nah, this is terrible on Katie’s part. I feel truly sorry for Blake. In any relationship, you put a sense of ‘trust’ in one another, especially long-distance relationships. There’s no denying the dishonesty and deception for months upon months.”
While the Bachelorette, aged 30, chose Blake Moynes as her final contestant from the dating show, she did dedicate a romantic number to John Hersey, aged 27. The star had sent Hersey packing home during the second week of her stay on the reality TV dating show, The Bachelorette. But, as she dedicated the song "Begin Again" to Hersey, fans were quick to jump to the conclusion that the two might be dating.
She posted the song for the contestant on the last day of a challenge known as '12 Days of Messy,' and the video featured moments of the two during the ABC TV show on and also offset. The first time fans had supported a Thurston and Blake 'ship, the two were together on the sets of the 17th season of the Bachelor Nation show, debuting Care Crawley and Tayshia Adams. The 2020 season showed Blake trying to woo over the Washington native Bachelorette, and later the lady revealed that this was not the first time the two had come together.
Sharing that they had contacted before she ever got to step on the reality TV with her own season of the Bachelorette, the star said, revealing that Blake had slid into her DMs upon her being eliminated. She revealed, “I definitely knew who he was, which is also Tayshia’s ex-boyfriend! So that’s weird.” Explaining further, she added, “We had chatted before, but usually what happens is, like, the guys will reach out to the women once they’re eliminated and be like, ‘Good luck, you did great.’ Like, very generic, you know? And so to see him, I was like, ‘Why is he here?’ Like, ‘What’s happening?’”
But things worked out for the two for a while, and Blake ended up getting on his knee and presenting the question to Thurston. As he already was a favorite of the lady, she was genuinely delighted at being proposed to the person who was her first suitor of choice from the series.

Saying that they were meant to be together, Thurston later said in After the Final Rose special episode of the show, "I think everyone can agree that this is exactly who I was supposed to be with." "He fought to be here for me and chose to stay even when I’m telling him to his face that I considered leaving. That he was confident enough to hold both of us till the end, I’m just so lucky. I love him so much."
The two soon made plans to travel the world together as Blake revealed, “We need to see each other’s lifestyles and our passions, our interests, and then try to see where our anchor spot will be, where all those things can kind of align and make sense for both of us.” He also said that they would settle down eventually, but first, they would explore the world together. “We’re going to jump around for a bit and experience what works best for us.”
But things turned out for the worse even before they could realize some of their dreams. Just two months into their relationship and engagement, airing through the show's premiere, the couple announced that they had decided to break up.
Their announcement read: “It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways. We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently.”
Both Katie and Blake posted the identical caption to their Instagram posts, adding, “We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition. Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”
Now, months later from the split, Blake shared that he has been healing with time. His post read: “When times are really tough, and things just aren’t going the way you had hoped … it’s always the same ‘gang’ that gets ya back on your feet. Feels good to start getting back into the swing of things. But, as much as I do lean on my human / furr fam at times like this, I really do have to acknowledge you all, my newfound social family for all the love, support, encouragement, and even patience over the past week.
