He also took the opportunity to express that he understands his privilege and dedicated his award to the women artist who was reportedly snubbed from the category. They include Rina Sawayama, Charli XCX, Florence and the Machine, and Mabel and Becky Hill.

Aitch, real name Harrison James Armstrong, took to the stage to accept the award for Best Hip-Hop/Rap/Grime and said in his acceptance speech that he is not going to lie and say that he has never been scared, but he is shitting himself, adding that he thought that he would have had time for a couple more drinks before his category came up. After thanking his fans and team, Aitch used his speech to reflect on where he came from, saying that not that many individuals get the chance to appear up here and receive quite an amazing gift or award from where he comes from, particularly on his side of Manchester.

The musician goes on to say that he believes the main reason he does it is to set an example and show people that it's possible no matter where they come from and that just because 5 million people haven't done it before doesn't mean they cannot either. Aitch noted his speech by telling the crowd that he believes everyone in the room should be proud of oneself simply for being present, and adding that occasionally people need to take a moment to pause and reflect about how well everyone is doing but admitted that he does not it enough personally. Finally, Aitch expressed his thanks to everyone.

Wet Leg was awarded "Best New Artist" and "Best Group," and while accepting their award, Rhian Teasdale began to recite their Domino labelmate’s speech. She started that rock'n'roll, that rock'n'roll. It just won’t go away. It may hibernate and sink back into the swamp from time to time, but in all seriousness, thank you to everyone. She continued by describing how cool it is to be working with an indie label, and she shouted out to Domino. Man, this is sickening, and she accepted that it can feel like a boys' club, but she simply wants to thank all of the women who worked on the entire production. She wants to acknowledge the women on the team. Rhian stated that she is anxious, therefore she will stop now. Earlier that evening, Wet Leg made their BRIT Awards debut, performing with Morris dancers and a giant owl.
