As the singer shared her announcement with her fans, she said, "I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage!" Cardi B also made history at the award show when she became the first female rapper to take home the favorite hip-hop song's award twice. This year again, the singer is nominated for three awards at the show.

Talking about Cardi B getting to hold the stage at the show, the showrunner Jesse Collins said, "She will excite the viewers, push the limits and deliver a show that will be remembered forever!" The Award show will be hosted live by the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It will also air live on Sunday, November 21. Cardi B stands to win the award for the favorite female hip-hop artist and also two nominations for "Up," making it the favorite music video and favorite hip-hop song.

Before Cardi B got the honor of hosting the stage of the American Music Awards this year, the show has already been hosted by several other stars from the hip-hop industry. The celebrities include M.C. Hammer, who hosted the show way back in 1992, followed by Will Smith in 1994, and then Queen Latifah in 1995. LL Cool J got to direct the stage in 2001, while Sean Combs ascended the stage in 2002. Pitbull got to enjoy the honor for two years in 2013 and 2014.

Henson had hosted the show in 2020.

Apart from the times, she had to accept her five awards at the awards show Cardi B, also took to the stage to perform "I Like It" at the 2018 AMAs. The rapper was joined on stage by J Balvin and Latin singer Bad Bunny. She also made history by winning the favorite hip-hop song award twice, a new category that was introduced in 2016.

She won the title for the first time in 2018 for her megahit song "Bodak Yellow." Recently, she won the same title again in 2020 for her very criticized song "WAP." The song also featured "Hot Girl Summer" singer Megan Thee Stallion.

The awards this year will take songs released beginning from September 25, 2020, till September 23, 2021, into account for the awards.

The award show this year will be produced by MRC Live & Alternative and Jesse Collins Entertainment.
