Dua Lipa cuts a sultry figure at the Donatella Versace Fashion event!

The Fashion world is once again returning to normal, and big-name fashion brands like ‘Versace’ have started holding runway events. This year’s post-pandemic fashion show featured some pretty familiar runway figures like Gigi Hadid and Irina Shayk, but the best of it all was Dua Lipa. The two times Grammys and five times Brits awards winner carried the show from start to finish by being the first one to walk the stage.

Donatella Versace is no beginner when it comes to keeping things fresh in fashion, even if the dresses are remakes or elegant tributes to dresses of the past. After all, she so gracefully remade the iconic Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammys green Jungle dress.

This year, Versace outdid herself again with another fitting tribute to a gorgeous dress from the history’s fashion pages. Her starter dress was a sultry imitation of Elizabeth Hurley’s safety pin dress back from the day worn by the Chart-topping singer Dua Lipa. Held in place by oversized vibrant safety pins, the slashed black dress was paired with similar safety pin earrings.

The immaculately clean-cut, power suit-shaped dress was a show stopper, even right when the show had just begun. The rest of the show featured french ‘foulards’ or scarves modified into countless innovative shapes and worn by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk, and Precious Lee, and other common faces at Versace.

Dua Lipa, for her part, has been seen wearing Versace quite a lot on the red carpet if not on the runway. She is, in fact, the current face of the brand and can be seen wearing the brand on Billboards across the country. Her many red carpet appearances like the 2021 Grammys sheer and shiny diamond number, bulbous and colorful 2019 Met Gala gown, and countless other dresses were all Versace. Along with celebrity stylist Lorenzo Posocco, she is one of the biggest Versace fans that there are.

She shared her euphoria over getting to work with Versace back in June when she first revealed pictures from the fashion event. “Getting to work so closely with Donatella and bonding over our shared love of fashion has been surreal.”

Other celebrity faces to join Dua Lipa on the runway were Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s daughter, and Naomi Campell. Lourdes wore a sparkly silver gown just like her mom’s from the 1995 Versace show. Naomi was seen in a hot pink pantsuit.

Versace will be collaborating with Fendi this year in a ‘secret’ show where Versace head Donatella Versace will work with Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi, the creative directors of Fendi. The gears have already turned, and high-profile guests are receiving personalized invitations signed by Donatella herself. The white and gold invitations promise ‘something special and are devoid of any more details regarding the show.

The brands’ first-ever collab has already been dubbed ‘Fersace’ while the official name could be ‘Fendace,’ too. With the global fashion industry coming to a standstill as the world halted completely for the pandemic, a new era of brand collaborations coming from fashions houses that have previously been in strict competition can once again revitalize the fashion industry.

A plausible collab was first teased by Kim Kardashian, a fashion enthusiast and reality TV actress, when she uploaded a picture with Versace and Jones. However, both brands have yet to comment on the issue.

Other fashion collabs this year featured a Gucci and Balenciaga union when the show hosted a runway walk wearing a trouser suit with Balenciaga written right across the front in sequins.  Considering that both the brands are owned by the same person, the union isn’t as great a deal. But now that rivals like Fendi and Versace are on their way to create history, big brand collabs can become the next ‘it’ thing in the fashion industry.
