Chris Pratt took to Instagram to announce his casting in the voice of legendary video game character Mario.

He said, "There was this coin-operated laundromat near my house, and it had Super Mario Bros., the original arcade game. I loved that game," Pratt says in the video published to Instagram. Because he "never had a quarter, it felt like" Pratt would steal quarters out of a wishing fountain.

"The quarter I stole out of the wishing well to play Super Mario Bros. has come true that I get to be the voice of Mario, but I clearly stole someone else's wish. So just waiting for that row of karma dominoes to come crashing down on me," quipped Pratt, "but as it is right now, it's-a me, Mario." Part added, "That's not the voice. You'll have to wait to hear the voice."

"We've been working hard at it," continued Pratt of Illumination and Nintendo, "and I'm really excited to announce that I'm going to be the voice of that video game that I dreamed about playing as a kid. Dreams come true."

The animated film has been in some form of development since years. Last year in January, Nintendo confirmed that the 'Mario' movie will be co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri and directed by American animator, television writer, producer, and director Aaron Horvath, who has previously worked on similar kinds of projects.

As per the announcement the movie will feature Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. The film will likely be released next year on December 21.

Recently, Chris Pratt also joined an all new film with Universal Pictures. While the details for the film have not been announced, what little is known in public is that the script for the movie is being written by Jen D’Angelo and Richardson. The movie will be produced under the name Indivisible Productions which is owned by Pratt himself.

The Marvel actor will be leading the Universal Pictures Upcoming action-comedy Stranded Asset. The actor will rejoin his co-star Sam Richardson from blockbuster 'Tomorrow War' to develop the film.
