The Home Edit co-founder Clea Shearer shares her health update!

Clea Shearer shared with People that she has been diagnosed with invasive mammary carcinoma, which is an aggressive form of breast cancer. Netflix recently released the second season of Get Organized with the Home Edit, and Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin were gearing up for the promotions, but things have come to a pause for Clea.

The professional organizer, Clea Shearer, who, along with her business partner, co-star, and best friend Joanna Teplin, was in New York to film for the Today Show when she found two small lumps in her right breast while self-examining which after tests was diagnosed as stage 1 invasive mammary carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer.

Clea shared with the publication that she felt lumps, a mass around her breast but she was not sure about how they exactly felt, so to be sure and have the correct information, she went on the internet to find out what a breast tumor felt like.

After gathering some information from google and feeling the lump, Clea immediately tried to reach out to an OBGYN but the appointment slots were booked till May. To act quickly she contacted her primary care doctor, who got her an appointment and asked her to get a test done. Clea added that the ultrasound came back suspicious and alarming and she was advised to get an emergency triple biopsy.

The organizer shared that the radiologist had pretty much confirmed that it was cancer, but they were all waiting for the reports and results of the biopsy. It was March 11th when she got the results back and it was confirmed that it was stage 1invasive mammary carcinoma. Clea added that she recently turned 40 and although does not have a history of breast cancer in her family, it has happened and now she is not going to dwell on the fact why it happened but will focus on getting better and crushing the cancer.

After the result of her tests came back and it stated that the tumor is cancerous, Clea mentioned that she was emotional, shocked and scared but she had to pull it together for the people around her especially her kids. Clea shared that she finds it baffling that one minute it’s nothing and as soon as the results come back, you become a person who has cancer and it’s crazy to look into the mirror and tell yourself that.

Clea shared a picture of her in the robe of Nashville’s Vanderbilt Breast Center and captioned the pictures that she has breast cancer and no matter how hard it is to say it out loud, it's easier for her to keep it to herself. Support and love have been pouring in for the author and people have been sending their good wishes for her speedy recovery.

Clea mentioned that when she got the news, it was really scary and an emotional moment for her and her family, and they did not have much information about the tumor in her breast, and the mind can go to dark places until you have more information. Clea is ready to go for a double mastectomy surgery after which things will get clearer for her to know that whether she’ll have to start with her chemotherapy or any further treatment.

The mother to two kids, daughter Stella and son Sutton, whom she shares with photographer John Shearer, gets emotional when she mentions that she has to break the news to her children. Clea added that she had intentionally avoided telling the news of her surgery to her kids in advance because according to her that would have just added to their anxiety and that too for a week and she would never want them to go through it. She added that she knows that she is strong enough to go through this and everything is going to be fine and she will be fine in surgery and recovery, but she is very nervous about telling her kids.

Clea’s best friend and business partner, Joanna Teplin, has been by her side throughout and is very strong for her. She has shown her support by telling Clea that they will beat cancer together and they will do whatever it takes to get her better. Joanna's support means a lot to Clea not only because she is her business partner but also because Joanna is very close to Clea and her family and a strong support would help her feel better.

Clea turned to her other close friend and cancer survivor, Christina Applegate, who she mentioned was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and had to undergo a double mastectomy and later got her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. Clea added that Christina, who had been in a similar situation, was very helpful and showed a lot of support and counseled her throughout.

Clea Shearer concluded that she is a strong women and she is going to fight and crush the cancer. The organizer added that she understands that there will be some nights where she will be afraid and that the first few weeks of recovery are going to be tough, but that does not mean that she will feel any less resolute about nailing it and putting cancer in her rearview.

The team of Get Organized with the Home Edit showcased their support for Clea by wearing "Clea Kicks Cancer" buttons, which were designed by Leah Hasson, who is someone who introduced Clea and Joanna. Clea is sure about one thing, which is to use her platform to raise awareness for women to start taking care of their health.

Clea added that women should know how to self-examine since it basically costs nothing and it is literally what saved her life, so women should self-examine themselves to know about their health. She mentioned that no one knows our bodies better than we do and urged women to take care of themselves.

Sending good wishes to Clea Shearer for her speedy recovery!
