Things had started to look good somewhere around the middle of 2021 as the pandemic released its hold on the world. Flights resumed, shoots commenced on sets and people started going back to offices and schools. Unfortunately enough, the pandemic is really not over and 2022 has come with a bad enough start.

Theaters have closed again and schools and colleges restart the online learning mode. Many people have already been unlucky to be exposed to the recurring virus and the most susceptible of all have to be the Hollywood celebs who get to meet a lot of people each day. With much luck, the effects of the vaccination are already kicking in and the elite of the industry is recovering just as fast as they acquired the virus.

One of the first famous names from Hollywood to fall susceptible to the pandemic this year, Seth Meyers tested positive for the virus. The show Late Night With Seth Meyers had barely restarted after a long break and aired only a single show when it was once again shut down with the host being struck with omicron.

The show host took to Twitter to share his bad news with the world on January 4 when he wrote “The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!).”

He added that the show would have to be postponed for at least a week and said, “We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!”

While Meyers was dragged down by the virus around January 4th, Jimmy Fallon recovered from his own bout with the pandemic a day earlier on January 3. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host shared that his test report has come as negative. Sharing his fit with the re-emerging pandemic, he said, “Hey guys, on the first day of our holiday break I tested positive for Covid.” He posted the photo on Instagram from a “reserved for testing use” room and was masked in the picture.

He added, “I was vaccinated and boostered which made me lucky enough to only have mild symptoms. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed." "Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job – and also thanks for putting me in the ‘What ‘chu talkin’ about Willis?’ isolation room when they told me the news,” he added referring to the Diff’rent Strokes quote featured in the room.

“The positive came back on 12/18. Back at work today and feeling 100%!” said the actor, telling a fan that he recovered in a few weeks.

Notably, both Meyers and Fallon made sure to let people know that it is important to get vaccinated and also the booster shots. Though they did acquire the virus, they have a fast chance of recovering and experienced only a little discomfort due to the disease.

Another star to fall under the storm is Whoopi Goldberg. The lady co-hosted the View show along with Joy Behar, who revealed on January 3 that Goldberg has taken the virus. Owing to the  run-in of Whoopi with the virus to the winter break, Joy assured fans that the host will be back fully recovered in under a week.

“Why am I here instead of Whoopi? Well, Whoopi, unfortunately, tested positive over the break, but she’ll be back probably next week,” said the host. “Since she’s vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very, mild. But we’re being super cautious here at The View.” Hence, the talk show resorted to holding their episodes remotely under the latest circumstances and Whoopi's positive test results.

“They say there’s no place like home for the holidays and that’s exactly where we are this year,” added Behar. “Happy New Year from all of our living rooms. As you can see, we’re back in boxes and doing the show remotely — hopefully for just a week. I’m praying that it’s just a week, but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place.”

Here are all the other stars to test positive:-

Hoda Kotb

The host was missing from her The Today Show on January 5. When Craig Melvin took over hosting duties for the next day on January 6, he revealed that the esteemed host, Hoda Kotb, had tested positive for the virus. Kotb later tweeted that she was feeling better and would soon return, writing, “Thx for well wishes! Feeling good... Can't wait to see you all when I am in the clear! Xo.”

John Mayer

Mayer was scheduled for a Mexico show by The Dead & Company but it had to be canceled as the band revealed that John Mayer's test for the virus had come back as positive.

The band took to their Instagram account to share the sad news and wrote, "Today, just prior to leaving for Mexico, per his physician, @JohnMayer tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to perform at the upcoming 'Playing in the Sand' event in Riviera Cancun January 7-10.” They added, “In these unprecedented times fans should expect many rare and different tunes.”

Gutted to have been out the past two weeks,” shared the Broadway star on January 5 through his Instagram Stories.
