David Archuleta is opening up about his coming out.

David Archuleta is famously known for his good looks and angelic voice when he competed on American Idol and went on to become one of the most successful and popular singers with his lovesick single, ‘Crush’ which went on to be at the No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

In June 2021, David Archuleta took to his social media and wrote a post in which he stated that he prefers to keep it to himself but felt it was important to share because he knows that many other people from religious backgrounds feel the same way. David wrote that he has been open about his sexual identity to himself and his close family for several years. He disclosed in the caption that he did come out as gay to his family in 2014, but he later realized that he had a strong feelings for both sexes, so he may be bisexual, but he also understood that he does not possess as many sexual urges and urges as most people, which works best because he committed to saving himself until marriage, but it is alluded to as asexual.

He went on to say that he simply wants everyone to think about making space to be more accepting and empathetic to those who are LGBTQIA+ and those who are a member of that community while also trying to find a balancing act with their religion and Christianity.

Finally, he wrote that the reality for him to find peace has been to accept both are real things he experiences and makes him who he is, adding that he is still unsure what that means but respects everybody paying attention to his matter. David Archuleta quickly became one of the most visible Mormons to be openly LGBTQ, putting him at odds with his church's prohibition on acting on same-sex attraction — though Archuleta's asexuality, which he also disclosed in the Instagram caption, has made that specific hurdle less difficult to overcome.

The singer recently opened up about his decision to step away from religion after he accepted and embraced his queer identity. During the conversation, he also opened up about his coming out and shared that no matter how hard he tried to marry a girl, it was not right and if people talk to his exes, they will share that it was rough.

David explained that he is now on good terms with his recent ex, but he also stated that he is confident that individuals who have experienced that circumstance can connect to what he is trying to say, which is that individuals who are queer who have attempted to get married in order to carry out the right thing, end up experiencing a weird feeling that constantly reminds them that what they are doing is not a good thing or the right thing adding that it is not very healthy for anyone in that specific relationship.

The singer said that his song ‘Crush’ which went on to become one of the most successful songs almost 15 years ago did not connect with him until last year when he kissed a man for the first time. He explained that it felt effortless and he thought about this as how it feels to like someone and was able to understand why people related to it.

David Archuleta who released an ‘upbeat’ song titled, ‘Faith in Me’ last month shared that he never releases uptempo songs and just needed to share something happy that says that he does not care what anyone says, adding that he doesn't care what the rules are, it's just about being in the moment and enjoying it mentioning that it feels like breaking free.

He found solace this summer when he featured in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Utah's Tuacahn Amphitheatre, which he observed inspiring — and where he felt at home. He stated that it was the gay people he had ever been around and that he had always prevented being near other gay people because he believed it would bring it out of him, but realized that it's wonderful to be around queer individuals who embrace who they are.

David went on to say that he is on his journey of self-discovery and that he still needs time to figure out who he is, but that he is in a better position since reconsidering his dysfunctional relationship with his religion. He explained that it is perplexing for him because the pictures on his wall are all Religious images of Jesus, scriptures, and other religious symbols. Now he acts as if it was his world, but it isn't. What can he do now? He is not sure. He went on to say that he has granted himself to love himself for everything he is and to not be influenced to pity himself — and to be proud of who he is, adding that he didn't think it would ever be okay to love himself. David stated that his family has been very supportive of his decision and that all he wants to do now is heal and get better.
