Demi Lovato shows support for Shawn Mendes.

On Thursday, Demi Lovato shared their thoughts on Shawn Mendes’ decision to take a break from his Wonder World tour and focus on his mental health as he said that things were overwhelming for him and he had reached a breaking point.

During an appearance on Audacy’s Karson and Kennedy Show, Demi said that they understand what it’s like to get out on the road and not be ready for it and added that they understand what it feels like to be overworked or burned out. Demi added that that is not a fun feeling and when it’s dealing with mental health, they added gosh and said that their heart goes out to Shawn Mendes.

The singer-songwriter, who has had personal experience with mental health issues, added that it’s something that they thought about, and it has been four years since they have been on tour and they are at a different age and place in their life right now. They shared how time off during the pandemic gave them a different outlook or perspective on little things.

Demi Lovato added that quarantine taught them to cherish the downtime and to be able to sit outside and feed their squirrels in peace and just appreciate the simplicity of life. They said that they have also been touring since the age of 15 and are now gearing up for their upcoming world tour in support of their eighth studio album, ‘HOLY FVCK’. Talking about their mental health at the moment, Demi said that they think what they are doing is to get ready for it by making sure that they have everything in line and making sure to work with their therapist, but added that there is a physical aspect to it. Demi continued by getting to the gym and making sure that their stamina is up when she is singing on stage.

Demi Lovato added that there is a lot of preparation that comes when an artist goes on a world tour and they think that it is going to go smoothly, but in reality, nothing is guaranteed, so they concluded that their heart goes out to Shawn Mendes, but they are excited about their upcoming world tour and hope everything goes well.

The support from Demi Lovato comes after Shawn Mendes took to his social media to announce on July 8th that he was heartbroken to share with the fans that he had to postpone the three weeks of his Wonder World Tour until further notice. Shawn Mendes shared a heartfelt post in which he said that he has been touring since the age of 15, and being very honest, he added that it has been difficult for him to be on the road far away from his family and friends.

Shawn Mendes continued and said that because he had a few years off from touring, he thought that he might be ready to be back on stage and sing just like before, but admitted that he made that decision prematurely and, unfortunately, the pressure has taken a toll on his mental health, as he added that he had hit a breaking point.

The Canadian singer further revealed that, after a lot of discussions with his team and health professionals, he has decided that taking time off to work on his mental health is the right decision for him and added that as soon as there are any updates, he’d share them. While some of the singer's fans criticized him for delaying the tour dates and said he was being lazy, the majority of them stood by him and urged the others to accept his decision, pointing out that Shawn Mendes has been traveling since he was 15 years old.
