Both Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz are exceptional; characters in their own right. But do they make a good team together as the future Batman and Catwoman of the franchise?

Pattinson and Kravitz have been friends for a while now, but neither knew that they could feature together for a phenomenal franchise as Batman. They first came together for their shared acting debut when they ran through a chemistry test back in 2019 with Warner Bros.

Despite the two actors commanding considerable expertise over their talent, both Kravitz and Pattinson felt the tension when they had to come for the chemistry read, which Kravitz labeled as "intense" when talking to Entertainment Weekly. The couple went through several tries to get to the intimacy right between the two.

They headed for the audition with the set, camera, DP, and the soundstage completely made up for action. The process was just not a simple audition but an entire trial, which made Kravits feel intimidated.

Her first test on the run was to simply take off her motorcycle helmet. Though the task seems simple, it was enough to wound a knot of anxiety for the actress. She worried if the simple job could be messed up if she were not able to make it look cool or if her hair was stuck on it or looked messy.

On the other side, Robert Pattinson, who was already cast for the role also felt a little odd on the sets. He had already passed his casting audition, where he wore a slightly tight Val Kilmer's Batman suit.

However, the audition with Kravitz required him to wear heeled shoes, which made him feel weird, apart from the fact that he would deliver lines as the character for the first time. Though the camera was just at the back of his head, he felt scared. He turned to Zoe Kravitz for emotional support, who herself was struggling.

Yet, the two managed to impress Matt Reeves, the director of the latest Batman film, and passed their chemistry test with flying numbers. He said that the two really "connected," and everyone on the sets agreed on their admirable chemistry, saying they had "something special."

Of course, establishing chemistry between the two was crucial as their tragic love story occupies the center stage in the film. And now that they are together, it's important to see if it was necessary to have another Batman story with the two when many exist before them.

Director Reeves shared that Pattinson will be able to approach Batman's story where the character is vowing for vengeance. The narration will show the Batman origin plot explaining why Bruce Wayne decided to don the cape and the cowl and establish himself as a superhero.

The story shows the dire circumstances that forced the hand of the billionaire, making it necessary for him to take the path of vengeance. The changes were almost inevitable.

Hence the story begins from the very beginning of the novice superhero as he investigates his way around crime scenes and fights crime. On the other hand, Kravitz's Selina has not yet adopted her alter ego as Catwoman and is just a burglar frequenting her robberies and loves cats.

The coming together of the two characters is a nod to the Batman mythology, which has long shown them acquainted with each other. The character of Selina has first entered the Batman universe back in the 1940s when Batman #1 comic was released.

The character had previously starred in 1939's Detective Comics. Maintaining his relationship with Selina through the 80 years of Batman comics was a difficult task for the detective as they two frequently clashed and found each other on the opposite side when legalities were concerned.

Kravits and Pattinson parted ways when they finished wrapping up for Batman amidst their tense shoots, as can be credited to the pandemic scares. The two recently came together for a photoshoot with Entertainment Weekly, and their chemistry was off the charts.

Needless to say, they will make a formidable pair together in the film as Batman and Selina. Their portrayal is both intense and romantic. Zoe Kravitz shared that she would connect her Catwoman character wherever she meets eyes with Robert Pattinson.

The movie will be released in theaters on March 4.
