Drew Barrymore talks about her sobriety and aftermath of her separation.

Drew Barrymore recently spoke to People magazine about her sobriety after divorcing ex-husband Will Kopelman in 2016, when their daughters Olive and Frankie were two and three years old, respectively.

She stated that there had been no scandal and that everything went wrong, which would be cleaner, but it makes detachment more difficult and puzzling since there is no one to blame. Drew stated that she and Will Kopelman worked exceptionally hard to make their relationship work, mentioning that a friend once told her that a relationship breakdown is the death of a dream, to which she replied that she felt the same way.

Drew Barrymore attempted to keep her family together just because she knew what it was like to be without one, but she explains the years following her divorce as debilitatingly difficult. During the cover story interview, she asserted that she relocated from California to New York to be closer to Will Kopelman's family and that the first winter decided to bring dark days that dragged her down. The actress continued that there are times when it's possible to look at someone and think, 'This is a strong individual,' and then see each other so broken and go, 'How the f—- did they get there?' She stated that she was that person, adding that she broke.

The Charlie's Angels actress stated that she used alcoholic beverages to cope with her pain and stated clearly that she was merely trying to numb the discomfort and feel good, which alcohol did for her. Drew stated that after recovering from addiction in her youth, she recognized the warning signs, explaining that drinking was perpetual for her as if she couldn't change, was weak, and was utterly devoid of doing what was best for her. Drew said that she kept thinking that she will master the thing and it was getting the better of her began to creep in, and she began to feel lost again.

Drew stated that when the life she had scheduled for her children didn't work out, she did think it was harder than what she had gone through as a child. It felt more real because it wasn't only about her; it was about these kids she was so concerned about. Then she care so much that she was merely giving to them and not taking good care of herself, adding that the circumstance was a muddled, heartbreaking, incredibly painful "walk through into the fire and come back to life" type of pathway.

She went to therapy and stopped drinking. Drew mentioned that it was her young kids who made her feel like it was playtime, and then they began working on the show, which gave her something more to focus on and pour herself into. It gave them something more to hope for. Drew Barrymore discussed her sobriety with CBS host Gayle King last year, saying that when a person is stuck in a pattern or continuing through things and is not only admitting them out loud but forcing themselves to say that they are willing to change big changes, that everybody thinks they're very weak when they don't make that change.

She told "CBS Mornings" that she kept her sobriety a secret for years because it had been a silent, self-assured journey. Drew asserted that she simply wanted to understand it and move on with her life, unworried about her career path or the media spotlight which allowed her to complete this silently and confidentially. And the actress stated that she has been living a lifestyle for long enough just to know that she is starting to work on a high road for her brief journey, and there is so much unity eventually being had when there were demons.

Drew Barrymore discussed going to a facility in Utah after suffering from depression following her divorce in a powerful interview for her show "The Drew Barrymore Show" with rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly. She said she just would want to go talk to some folks about how to pull herself out of the hole she ended up getting herself into and was unable to herself out of, and she could not see the light. The actress mentioned that she had 2 kids for whom she had to combat and be the greatest person she could be and that they always helped inspire her to be doing her best. And she said she needed assistance, so she started reaching out to different individuals, and eventually, she made some big wide-ranging shifts in her life, and she got on a completely new track—not just a new one that she worked to build.

She spoke openly about her own life experience following Machine Gun Kelly admitting to Barrymore that he sometimes feels compelled to hide his emotions. Colson Baker told Drew Barrymore that he is still getting used to being sensitive beyond the songs. So it's as if he sees a plethora of images of himself with smiling faces on them and he always appears to think it's mysterious since he didn't feel well that day. Colson went on to say that he is sick of looking happy on days when he does not feel like beaming and that he feels this additional pressure because he doesn't want his fans to think he is taking something for granted.

Drew Barrymore also spoke about Will Kopelman's wife Alexandra Michler, a Vogue fashion director who she describes as a wonderful stepmother to her children. Will has his side of the road so well-connected to our wonderful stepmother. Drew added that they have a wonderful family dynamic that exemplifies that life goes on. She continues by claiming that Allie is her favorite person, that she adores her, and that she appreciates them all being together. These children have witnessed one of their parents move on and build a new life for themselves and she often thinks that she does not have to be perfect now.
