Dune Earns A Total Of Whopping $75 Million At The International Box Office.

Denis Villeneuve's film Dune performed very well at the international box office this weekend performed as it earned $36.8 million. The science fiction film has added a total of $75 million ahead of its United States release.

Based on reports by Deadline, the film is currently playing in the theaters in 32 countries this weekend, where it earned $26.3 million with a 32% drop from last week's earnings at the box office. The film is relatively ahead of its rivals which include Tenet, Black Widow, and Blade Runner 2049. Dune is currently at the number one spot in countries like Russia, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.

The Oscar-winning director Denis Villeneuve recently landed in a major controversy after he gave some controversial statements about the superhero-based franchise Marvel Cinematic Universe. Denis, while appearing at an interview said that the Marvel movies are nothing but copy-paste of each other.

Villeneuve said, "There are too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a cut and paste of others." The director added, “Perhaps these types of movies have turned us into zombies a bit… But big and expensive movies of great value there are many today. I don’t feel capable of being pessimistic at all."

He further added, "Just think of the golden age of Hollywood to see that commercial films can make a different artistic proposal and, therefore, political. I have never felt like a loss or an impediment to have a generous budget to do what I wanted to do. Upside down. Who said that a movie on a big budget can’t be artistically relevant at the same time? I am currently thinking of people like Christopher Nolan or Alfonso Cuarón.”

Previously, The French-Canadian director Villeneuve also made similar comments about Marvel while appearing at the French Outlet Premiere.

He said, "If we’re talking about Marvel, the thing is, all these films are made from the same mold. Some filmmakers can add a little color to it, but they’re all cast in the same factory. It doesn’t take anything away from the movies, but they are formatted.”

The film has a diverse which includes Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica as Paul's Bene Gesserit mother, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, Zendaya as Chani, David Dastmalchian as Piter De Vries, Chang Chen as Dr. Wellington Yueh, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet-Kynes, Charlotte Rampling as Gaius Helen Mohiam, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Babs Olusanmokun as Jamis, Benjamin Clementine as Herald of the Change.

The science fiction film Dune is based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel. Denis Villeneuve serves as the director with the screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve, and Eric Roth.

The film is a story of a brilliant young man named Paul Atreides, who travels to one of the most dangerous planets in the entire universe to safeguard the future of his family and friends. He lands into trouble when he finds out various secrets of the dangerous planet.
