While audiences are set to see a lot more of Luke Hobbs; the popular character essayed by Dwayne Johnson in the hugely popular Fast & Furious franchise, the actor will not be a part of Fast & Furious 10 and 11. In a recent interview with Collider, Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions producer and head of productions, Hiram Garcia, confirmed Dwayne’s absence from the upcoming Fast & Furious films, after the former wrestler and Jumanji star stated the same in a recent interview.

These recent developments will not come in the way of Johnson’s starring role in the ‘Fast’ spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw. At the time of his debut in Fast & Furious 5, Johnson was an instant fan favorite and continued to wow moviegoers in Fast 6, 7, and Fate of the Furious, with the eighth installment in the franchise being Johnson’s cue to step away.

To fans' delight, there was more to see of Johnson’s Luke Hobbs in the ‘Fast’ spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Stratham in titular roles in 2019. The buddy movie proved to be a sleeper hit, grossing $760 million worldwide, with almost immediate expectations of a sequel.

Speaking with Collider, Hiram Garcia said, “At the moment we’re trying to figure out what that sequel is going to be, but we have some very big ideas,” in reference to a Hobbs & Shaw sequel. He added, “After filming Fast 8 DJ made the clear decision to close the Fast & Furious chapter for all the evident reasons. He wished them all well and shifted our focus on to other storytelling avenues. So, while he will not be in F10 or F11, that won’t in any way interfere with our Hobbs plans. Obviously, all these characters exist in the Fast universe and we love to see all aspects of that universe thrive and succeed. We just have specific plans for what we want to do with the Hobbs character and I think the fans are going to love it! We’re working to deliver something very unique and fresh and we know the studio is eager for us to get into it ASAP!”

Johnson has been busy, moving on to Jumanji: The Next Level, from Hobbs & Shaw, and wrapping it up with Netflix’s Red Notice, and his DC debut, Black Adam. The actor is said to be ‘taking a breather, even while working on Young Rock Season 2. Fans can be sure to see more of Johnson as Luke Hobbs in upcoming Hobbs & Shaw sequels or sequel, but Johnson has formally bowed out of the ‘Fast’ franchise.
