Ellen Pompeo is calling for a change.

According to reports from Deadline, actress Ellen Pompeo, who is gearing up to appear in the 19th season of ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Meredith Grey, is reportedly going to appear only in eight episodes of the season as she has signed up for a new upcoming Hulu series, which she will be starring in as well as executive producing as well via her ABC Signature based production company, Calamity Jane. Ellen Pompero will although continue to narrate the story and serve as an executive producer behind the scenes for Grey's Anatomy.

Ellen Pompeo has been involved in the forthcoming limited series "Orphan," which is a remake of the 2009 film based on the real-life experience of Ukrainian-born Natalia Grace, whose adopted parents in the United States believed she was an adult psychopath posing as a kid.

A Midwestern couple adopts what they assume to be an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism in the upcoming drama "Orphan," but they gradually come to realize that she may not be who they thought she was. They begin to raise her alongside their three biological children as the series goes on, and they gradually begin to worry that she might not be who she claims to be, according to a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. The couple is forced to confront difficult issues about the extent to which they will go to protect themselves as they doubt her tale. Due to this, a battle is fought in the courts, the media, and ultimately in their marriage.

The news of the actress looking for something significant other than Grey’s Anatomy comes after the fact that Ellen Pompeo expressed in 2018 to Entertainment Weekly that she is looking for a change in her career and added that although she is not prepared at the moment to make a formal announcement about what her future holds, she is ready to move on from Meredith Grey. Ellen Pompeo made headlines in December 2021 when she said that she was trying to convince everyone that the show should end.

Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, and James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber are the only three surviving original cast members—who will reprise their roles in the blockbuster drama's upcoming 19th season, ABC revealed back in January. During an interview with the Insider, Ellen said that she feels like she is super nave because she keeps talking and caring about what the next season is going to be about, and what storyline they will follow, whereas some of them are like, who cares, the show is making a gazillion dollars.

Ellen Pompeo said in a recent edition of her Tell Me Podcast that if she could change anything about the forthcoming season of Grey's Anatomy, it would be to be less preachy in one episode about particular topics. She continued by saying that we had a touching episode last season on, well, let's see, Asian hate crimes. Ellen believes that she would want to see things develop gradually and softly.

The actress continued by expressing her desire for the show's creators and producers to address critical societal topics throughout each season rather than consistently hammer them over the head of the audience for only one hour and never tackle them.
