Eternals Star Barry Keoghan On His Character Druig's Relationship With Lauren Ridloff's Makkari In The Film

While Marvel Studios' latest superhero epic The Eternals which introduces the fans to ten brand new superhero characters, is breaking record after record since it has made its way into the theatres on 5th November, one of the superheroes introduced includes the 29-year-old Irish actor Barry Keoghan’s Druig. 

The superstar Barry Keoghan while recently talking with CBR, went on to reveal about the fact that how surprised he was when he came to know that his superhero character Druig will be seen romanticizing with Lauren Ridloff’s character Makkari during the film.

Keoghan said, recalling how surprised the cast and crew were to find out about his characters’ relationship with Ridloff’s Makkari in the blockbuster film. "Well, I have to say that first of all, I want to say that I think the relationship between Makkari and Druig really comes to a surprise for actually several people here on stage, right?" Keoghan told CBR during an Eternals press conference. 

He added, explaining that the relationship that, "wasn't really something that was so apparent" in the script, but that the film director Chloé Zhao encouraged them "to imply that there was a lot more to Druig and Makkari.”

"And I feel like that what actually brought them together is that, as you said, they're both very improvement, and they both have a lot of power," Keoghan continued. "They're very powerful individuals. And they're told to hold back. To hold themselves back. And I think that that, for Druig and Makkari, you know, they're mischievous, and they also have fun. And they have this-on this fabulous planet, and their boss, you know, is, you know?"

"Can I just also add, Lauren, I don't know if you remember, it was your first time meeting Barry [Keoghan], the two of you started this riff. You know, you started to improvize. And I go, 'Woah woah woah, what's happening?' Sparks [were] everywhere! Because initially, that was not the intention. I think really it was from you guys meeting that we felt that and go, 'Maybe we should play into it,'" The Eternals director Chloe Zhao, who was also present during the press conference said of the romance between Keoghan’s Druig and Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari in the film.

Along with Barry Keoghan in the role of Druig in Marvel Studios The Eternals, it also features other actors who will be seen in some hard-hitting actions and striking visuals such as Salma Hayek in the role of Ajak, Angelina Jolie in the role of Thena along with Brian Tyree Henry in the role  Phastos, Richard Madden in the role Ikaris, Gemma Chan in the role of Sersi, Lauren Ridloff in the role of Makkari, Lia McHugh in the role of Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani in the role of Kingo, Don Lee in the role of Gilgamesh, Kit Harington in the role of Dane Whitman with additional actors such as Harish Patel, Haaz Steiman as Phastos' husband, Ozer Ercan as a smuggler and Zain Al Rafeea in an unknown role.
