Get ready for another thrilling flight with 'The Flight Attendant!'

After winning the Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, the series is set to release its second season after its first premiere in 2020.

Kaley Cuoco, famous for The Big Bang Theory, shared her joy, saying, "To say that I am elated would be an understatement. The positive response to our show has surpassed all of our expectations, and I'm so proud of the entire team behind its success. I'm thrilled to continue my partnership with Team Berlanti, Steve Yockey, HBO Max, and of course, my beloved studio, Warner Bros. I have amazing partners in Suzanne McCormack and Mackenzie Shade at Yes, Norman Prods., where we are committed to delivering diverse and quality entertainment, including an exciting (and probably a little crazy) TFA season 2!!" She also executive produced The Flight Attendant along with starring in it.

The series follows the life of Cassie Bowen, an alcoholic flight attendant, as written by Chris Bohjalian in a 2018 novel of the same name. The story kicks start with a first-class passenger's affair with Cassie and then murder. The suspense builds up from the first episode when Cassie wakes up with a serious hangover and a dead man at her side. Of course, she has no memories before her sleep whatsoever.

Talking about getting accustomed to the series plot, "When I read the book description, I got a chill down my arms," she told Us Weekly during an interview in September 2020. "It felt like a good mix of drama and dark comedy. Plus, a complicated female character is a dream role."

The first season of the series turned out to be a mega-hit and landed Kayley an Emmys nomination. She is also a Golden Globe nominee and is optimistic for season 2.

"We had such a great Season 1, but I want it to even be better, even though that's hard to do," she said during an interview in February 2021 with TVline. "And I want to come out swinging. What I appreciate with the show, with Steve and our writers, is they really let me go ballistic… I would like to go ballistic again and keep spreading my wings because it just became its own entity, and I don't even know what I did half the time. I kind of just left it on the field and walked away, like, 'Well, f–k, I hope that worked!'"

Steve Yockey, the producer and screenwriter of The Flight Attendant himself, is looking forward to a great second season and is working hard for it. He told Variety in a December 2020 interview, "It may look a little different because she's really trying to live a sober life and make better choices, but you saw in the show she chooses the crazy thing a lot of the time, and that doesn't all have to do with alcohol… I think that we would probably use our writers' room to branch out on a new journey for the character that we created for the show."

The show's screenwriter said that the season 2 would be "a whole new adventure, like a new Hitchcock movie for Cassie to stumble into" in another December 2020 interview talking with New York Daily.

A clear vision for the Season 2

Even before the first season of the show premiered in November 2020, the show producers were ready with an idea for the second season and how the story would continue forward.

Talking with Entertainment Weekly last October, Kaley had said,

"I hope it doesn't sound too cocky, but we have always had a vision for season 2." She explained, "We have had a very clear path for what a season 2 would look like, and we know exactly what it'll look like, and we hope we'll get the opportunity to do that."

The Write-up is all Done

If you are a die-hard fan of the show and can't wait for the next season, take heart because the writers have already finished with the show's scripts.

Consequently, Kayley revealed that scripts are all written, and the show's crew is set to start shooting in fall 2021. She even added when talking to Variety that the episodes are "so good" and can't wait for them to air.

Cassie's sobriety is the focus of the show

In the same interview with Variety, Kaley also revealed that the series main focus this season will be Cassie's sobriety. Cassie was shown to be a heavy drinker in the first season, which was one of the reasons for the onset of the dark comedy. And hence, Kaley said, "She [ Cassie ] is definitely going to be trying to live a sober life while still trying to be who she was. And I think that's what she's going to struggle with the most. 'Am I the same person I was before? Or are people going to like me? Am I still fun?'"

Like many people in the real world, Cassie struggles to find who she is, and the struggle seems to be identifying if she is the same person, whether drunk or not. She will constantly wonder whether "she's not enjoyable when she's not drunk" and then look to mimic the behavior so she stays cool. That's how she relates to herself.

She's based her life around being fun, and "She thinks that's who she is," said Kaley. "So to take that away from her, to try and live a normal existence, she's gonna learn really fast that it's not going to work for her… She thinks she's sober now, and so here comes her perfect life, and it is not going to turn out that way for her at all. There's so much temptation around; she moves to L.A. to Santa Monica and has a sober boyfriend."

Cassie turns espionage

Kaley's co-star Griffin Matthews had foreshadowed that Cassie would be getting a CIA gig at the first season's end, but Kaley revealed that there is nothing more to that. Cassie is not going to turn into a "magical" spy for the next season.

Further describing the reason for saying this, she said, "She's also a CIA asset, which is a very small job. This is not some sort of agent. She is a teeny tiny asset. But she seems to get confused as to what is needed from her and gets herself stuck in a situation that she should not be in." Additionally, "She's street smart and quirky, but it's a small side gig next to her normal life, and she has to keep being reminded of that as well."

L.A. shoots

As Cassie begins a new life being sober, Cassie moves to L.A., and that is how we will see her in the new season. Kaley herself had a wish to shoot in L.A. as that would be near to home. This seems like a great turn of events.

Cast members

Characters for the second season will include Annie (Zosia Mamet), Megan (Rosie Perez), Miranda (Michelle Gomez), and Davey (T.R. Knight). Women characters are going to be the main focus of the story.

The show is set to premiere around spring 2022, so fasten your seatbelts for another exciting flight!
