Alicia Witt's parents found dead in their home in Massachusetts; Credits: Us Weekly

Alicia Witt is left mourning just a few days before Christmas as her parents are found dead. This past Monday, Alicia Witt's parents, father Robert Witt, aged 87, and mother Diana Witt, aged 75, were found dead in their Massachusetts home. The police found the two as later revealed by Associated Press. Apparently, Alicia had been waiting for her parents to respond to her messages and calls for a long time and had not heard from them for a while.

Given their old age, the actress asked a relative from back home to check on her parents, but she was not ready to receive the news that greeted her just a few days before the holiday season had to kick in. Talking with People, the actress said, "After not hearing back from my parents for several days, I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them." 

The actress has stated that she needs time to deal with the unimaginable loss and revealed, "Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable. I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events and this surreal loss."

While it is a bit odd for both of her parents to have dropped dead together, police have ruled out foul play and also declared that the deaths are not suspicious. Worcester Telegram and Gazette revealed that the cause of the death has yet not been determined. Lieutenant Sean Murtha from the investigative authorities had shared, “There was no trauma.”

Police had said that the couple had a furnace heating problem in their Massachusetts house and hence had resorted to using a space heater. However, the firefighters said that the house did not have a carbon monoxide buildup. The bodies of the couple are to undergo autopsies.

The neighbors of the old couple have revealed that Robert and Diane were going ill for some time and would rarely be seen outside. The couple had some ongoing work in their yard, and several people from the locality had asked them if they needed help, but Alicia's parents had refused the help. 

Alicia herself is a famous actress and a musician based in Nashville. She has worked in Dune (1984), Twin Peaks (1990), Two Week's Notice (2002), Last Holiday (2006), and has even been seen in many classic Christmas movies. It would be a difficult time for the actress to cope with such a tremendous loss during the otherwise festive season. Alicia has also been seen on The Walking Dead, Friday Night Lights, Orange Is the New Black, Nashville, and many more.

The actress also always maintained a very private life and rarely posted or told much about her parents or the rest of the family. The couple's death in such times, of course, comes off as mysterious, but only thorough research could reveal how the tragic events came to be. 

Still, in September this year, the actress shared how she got to enter the world of acting and that it was her mother, who helped Alicia get her career in the acting world started when the child star was just 5! Recalling the story of how she got in touch with the producer of That’s Incredible!, she said, “The producer saw a photo of me reading in a magazine and got in touch and asked if I had anything I could do on the show. My mom had, at that point, taught me how to do a scene from Romeo and Juliet. I was 5.” 

She revealed to the Boston Globe, “Two years later, the casting director for Dune was searching for someone to play the role of Alia and saw it. It was serendipity.”

Her family did not always have great means at their disposal, and despite her child star status, the family of Alicia Witt struggled a lot to make ends meet when the actress was still a child. Talking with Marketplace, she said, “My parents were both teachers. My dad made about $35,000 a year, and we didn’t have a car until I was, I think, 11.” She added, “Money was always something that we had to be careful of.”

The actress even has her name embossed in the Guinness World Record from the year 1989 to 1996 for sporting the longest hair. Amongst her remarkable achievement is the fact that she “even caught fish” with her hair in 1988, as father revealed, “We just tied a worm to it and cast,” using her 10-foot long hair as a fishing rod. 

Robert Witt

Alicia's father, Robert Witt, was a teacher and a photographer. He was incredibly close to his daughter, and the actress had shared a sweet message for her father on Father's Day in June. In her Instagram post, she wrote, "To my amazing dad, the wise and hilarious and always curious one, the greatest teacher, and the OG Witty. I am deeply blessed in the dad department, and I know that every single day.”
