Bridgerton's Season 3 details are revealed.

Netflix and Chris Van Dusen just revealed some facts about the upcoming season of Bridgerton, which is based on Julia Quinn's best-selling novel.

As part of the announcement, the storyline for Season 3 was unveiled. The show's first season was based on the first novel, The Duke and I. The plot centered around actress Phoebe Dynevor's character Daphne Bridgerton and actor Regé-Jean Page's character the Duke of Hastings. The second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, inspired the love triangle between Anthony Bridgerton, represented by actor Jonathan Bailey, Kate Sharma, played by actress Simone Ashley, and Edwina Sharma, played by actress Charithra Chandran, in season two.

The third book by Julia Quinn is titled "An Offer From A Gentleman," and it follows Benedict Bridgerton played by Luke Thompson, the second eldest son of the Bridgerton family and an aspiring artist, as he seeks matrimonial bliss. However, showrunner and writer Chris Van Dusen has chosen to not follow the chronology and instead focuses on the most beloved couple, Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan, and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, which is technically the fourth book.

Because everyone is invested and eager to know more about the relationship that Pen and Colin share that the showrunner and writer Chris Van Dusen said in an interview with Variety that the makers decided to focus on Penelope and Colin's bond as a group. Chris added that because the audience had been watching the actors create something for the past two seasons and knew who they were as individuals, and they all believed and felt it was Colin and Penelope's time.

Chris went on to say that there are a couple of moments in the previous season where Colin comes close to comprehending that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn't quite get it, and season three feels like the ideal situation for the two to tee it up. When asked about the reordering, Chris Van Dusen remarked that they may continue to reshuffle the series to maintain the story arcs of specific characters.

Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton will still play a key role in season three, according to Chris, especially in terms of the plot as explaining that how Penelope and Colin meet in a way before adding that those who have read the book will know. Chris Van Dusen, on the other hand, remains tight-lipped when it comes to the Netflix series' unique elements.

Chris Van Dusen goes on to say that he thinks Colin and Penelope are the characters that brings some sort of comedy on the show and as a result, the producers intend to go along with a lot of it this season. But, according to Chris, they want to balance it out with a lot of sexiness and romance, which they believe is crucial to the program. The showrunner added that the audience will get a chance to go deeper with them and push them to see what that looks like, so the audience should be ready to witness new levels.

Everyone recalls Penelope being upset when she overhears Colin telling a group of friends that he would never dream of courting her after season two, so it will be intriguing to watch what Colin tries to redeem himself in season three. According to a press release, Colin's willful ignorance could be the largest roadblock to romance in season three. After all, Colin isn't chasing anyone right now.

Nicola Coughlan turned to social media to reveal that, like Lady Whistledown, she has been holding a secret for a long time and that she can now disclose that season 3 will be Colin and Penelope's love story. The caption went on to claim that she's been keeping that secret since two weeks into season 2, and this is the first time she's revealing it publicly.

The showrunner added that they are aware that the audience would love to keep seeing all of the Bridgerton siblings and they will not be disappointed as the showrunner and the makers feel like those moments when the whole family is together are what make the show and make everyone think that they want to be Bridgerton. So yes, the audience will be seeing Daphne, Anthony, and Kate—how much? The showrunner stayed tight-lipped on that, but  guess we all have to wait for season three.

When asked if they discussed Benedict or Eloise, Chris said that Shonda Rhimes has mentioned that she would love to have all eight seasons just like the books and have the opportunity to tell every sibling's love story, but right now the focus is going to be on Pen and Colin, with other siblings getting fair screen time.

During the interview, it was also discussed the fact that throughout the books there are various references to Penelope's weight and weight loss, partially in an inner monologue way, in which the showrunner mentioned that Penelope is beautiful and they don't think that her weight should be a part of her story. The showrunner further added that her being a wallflower in the show showcases her level of confidence more than it is about her outward appearance. So that is something that season three is going to be about, rather than being about her weight or weight loss experience.

According to rumors, Ruby Stokes' role as Francesca Bridgerton will be taken over by actress Hannah Dodd, who will be seen in the lead role in another Netflix show, Lockwood & Co. However, there are rumors that Queen Charlotte will have a prequel, which would chronicle her ascent to power and Lady Danbury's role as a guiding light for the future Queen, as well as her struggle to discover her voice and power.
