Russian Doll is an existential dramedy on Netflix created by Natasha Lyonne. The star of the show Chloe Sevigny recently shared her experience of working on the series and how she feels when working with the creator.

Season 2 of the show was released on Netflix on April 20. The series has had a run time of three years now with its first season dropping on the streaming platform back in 2019. Russian Doll was quick to find a great audience base and was well appreciated by the critics and general audience alike.

Season 2 of the show brings back Nadia, played by the series creator Natasha Lyonne, also known for her work in Orange Is The New Black. She stars against Alan, played by Charlie Barnett, and they come to face the same ambiguous world as once before when they were stuck in a birthday time loop.

Yet, this season could show a different take on the time loop they are stuck in. The series had dropped a trailer for the latest season. The short clip revealed that the series will be stuck somewhere in the 1980s this time as the audience gets to unravel a few more mysteries about the show's lead, Nadia.

The season will also show more of Chloe Sevigny from Queen and Slim. The actress plays the part of Nadia's mother and debuted her role in season 1. As the history of Nadia's life will be shown in more detail this season, Chloe can be expected to play a pretty important role.

The mother could also be expected to play an active role in freeing the two leads from the prison of the time loop and the past could also be an important factor relating to how it all comes into play.

Talking with Screen Rant, Sevigny shared how it felt to reprise her role in Russian Doll season 2 and what it is like to play Nora in an extended version of her youth after her death. She also talks about the making of the series and what it would be like to travel in time in real life.

Explaining what it was like to play Nora, a dead mother who still plays some influence in her daughter's life, the actress shared that it is equally, and exciting and terrifying to play the part. She said that it was amazing to once again work as Nadia and work with Natasha in Russian Doll.

The creator had her plate full this season with her acting and creating duties, but also had to shoot several episodes as the director. Apart from that, the pandemic made shooting a very difficult task, which she also called "crazy."

It was satisfying for the fans to see Nadia build a relationship with her mother and see how they treaded through that territory. But apart from that, there are a few relationships that make Russian Doll worth a great watch.

Ruth and Nora are two people who have a very particular relationship with each other and they have not been discussed much until now. It would be nice to see what more they have in store as their relationship is disclosed more.

Given that there is the time portal used in the season, there is a chance that there would be some or the other way to explore their relationship more. The past of the show could actually be a lesson to learn from, just like history is, so it would be intriguing to see how the concept could be used in the show.

Sevigny shared her own thoughts about the time portal and revealed that if she had one, she would use it to go back to the days when she started her acting career. She wishes she could have made different choices when choosing her projects.

She said she is not sure if the different choices would have taught her different lessons in life, but she still hopes she could have had a different path to her career growth than the one of the present.

Expanding on her work relationship with Natasha and her character Nadia, Sevigny said that she likes the "chutzpah" and her extreme confidence. She is always at ease in her skin and has a very refreshing outlook when it comes to men.

What will season 2 be about?

Season 2 of the show is based on the story of Nadia and Alan as they enter into a time loop, overcoming the limitations of mortality. Hence, the story will look forward to more sci-fi concepts and see how the characters could come to dread their new existential reality of immorality as a more dreadful concept than death.

Despite their newfound way to evade time, there is always a price to pay when things go out of the normal.
