Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel welcomed a daughter.
Shay Mitchell took to her social media to share with her fans and followers that she has welcomed her second child with boyfriend Matte Babel and posted a video from the Béis Motel pop-up at The Grove in Los Angeles.
The actress shared in a video that she had left the house for the first time in weeks and someone asked, "Where’s your bump?" Shay says that she had a surprise for all and then moved the camera down to her stomach, showing zero baby bump, confirming that she had given birth to her second child.
Shay Mitchell posted a picture of her and the newborn baby, showcasing the child’s name, "Rome," to the world and stated that she has named her daughter after her grandmother, "Romaine," who passed away earlier this year. The actress noted in her caption that losing the most significant person in her life the same year she gave birth to her daughter has moved a lot of things for her, but that one thing has remained constant in her soul: she is convinced they have spent time together, which offers her peace and joy.
Shay continued that they are so happy that Rome is named after her best friend, her soulmate, and her person, her grandmother Romaine. During an interview with E! News, Shay Mitchell confirmed that she and Matte Babel welcomed a baby girl, and it was the first time she was out of the house for a motel pop-up event for her brand BÉIS at The Grove in Los Angeles.
Shay Mitchell co-founded BÉIS a travel brand and said that she feels really special visiting her other baby. She also spoke to People and shared that she feels awesome since welcoming Rome and she feels real, really lucky that her parents are in town to help her since everybody knows that it takes a village to raise a baby.
In February, the actress announced her second pregnancy, at one once announcing that she and Matte Babel were expecting their second child, and at another time announcing the sadness she had experienced with her grandmother's death. She said in her post that bidding goodbye to a loved one who has been your person all your life while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into the world is a magnificent circle of life. The actress said that this is one of the most painful seasons to date for her and she can't help but feel it was the universe's plan all along, knowing she'd need someone to help her cope with the death of someone who meant so much to her.
Atlas Noa, the couple's two-year-old daughter, was born in October 2019 and, according to Shay Mitchell, is enjoying her big sister position and is eager to assist her in caring for Rome. She also praised her boyfriend and baby daddy, Matte Babel, saying that he is a wonderful father and that she believes that finding someone who shares your principles makes parenting a lot simpler and similar to a partnership.
Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel have been dating since 2017 and have no plans to marry, as the actress recently stated that she is unsure whether she has done everything correctly and that marriage maybe is not in their plans, which they both agree with.
