Chanelle Howell suffered a great setback in this season, with the voting poll being totally against her favor. Survivor has always put a lot of stock in the fate of the players in the hands of the voters, and Chanelle was one of the players to suffer immensely due to it, ending any hopes of coming together with Vati.

Her own vote dilemma with Mike Turner and Daniel Strunk lost her the alliance with Mike Turner, meaning she had no one to look to when the tribes were all assembled on the beach. Hence, Chanelle was the first player to be voted out during the election.

Here is everything the survivor has to say about her bitter defeat in the 42nd season of the show:

Explaining where things went downhill, the executive recruiter shared that everything was going pretty great before she was made to name her decision in front of the jury. She started off as a player with good social skills and a good position in the game.

She thought she was well protected enough by her friends that she could spend an afternoon in front of The Tribal but not be outed by her friends. But things took a different turn when she had to go to the Ship.

She had to take a risky decision on the Ship Wheel Island, which put her own safety in jeopardy and made her risk her vote. However, she had more to say about her decision but everyone was already so surprised by her decision that her position in the game was instantly compromised.

Sharing the actual reason behind her decision that hurt the chances of her vote was that she had already had a conversation with Omar earlier on. They both needed their vote and had to stand before the Tribal.

They decided that if the decision was going to hurt both of them, they wouldn't embark on it, but it could actually help them both, too. However, they did not discuss what they would do if the decision would only help one of them and hurt the other.

Chanelle simply came to the decision that Omar won't make the decision if it could hurt both of them and hence thought it would be safe for her to take it when the moment came.

Chanelle admitted that she was the safest at the time when she made her decision, her reason being that the best time to take a decision on Survivor is when you are the safest. Unfortunately, not many had her best interest at heart and did not do anything to safeguard her position in the game.

She relied on the help of Daniel, her plus one, along with the alliance of Hai, Lydia, Mike, and Jenny. Hence, it was only a matter of time before someone from the team was sent packing to go home and it ended up being Chanelle Howell herself.

Yet, she had mistaken that she was safe in her game and could risk her vote. The other mistake she committed was not letting Omar know that she would be making a decision. Her mistakes ended up being the "catalyst" to the final goodbye from the show.

The tribe itself was not aware that the Ship Wheel Island decision would make a comeback in the series. They thought it was one thing and had already played out so that they were already in safe positions.

It came as a shock to them when Jeff came and asked them to send someone from the tribe to the Ship Wheel Island. Needless to say, they had no conversation or strategy in place when it came to the particular task.

Hence, they did not decide to not risk their votes. While the viewers had some idea of what was going on, the players had never seen such a strategy play out and were entirely clueless as they entered the field.

Explaining what went around with her and Daniel, she addressed the betrayal Daniel thought she played out on him. Apparently, the competitor thinks that Chanelle left him alone without any support.

Yet, in her defense, Chanelle said that she had no vote when they were at the Tribal Council. Hence, she could not have gone ahead and added her own opinion to the game as she had no credible standing at the point. It was not a worthwhile thing to do.

Apparently, Danielle was already on the losing side of the battle and it was smart on Chanelle's part to back up anything and further risk her position in the game. However, when they came back from Ship Wheel Island, she did clear up things with Danielle and told him that she did not have a vote. Hence, she cleared there actually was not any betrayal in question.
