Tahliah Debrett Barnett, who is also known as FKA Twigs, recently announced her new mixtape titled, ‘Caprisongs", which is going to feature The Weeknd, Daniel Caesar, Jorja Smith, Pa Salieu, Rema, Shygirl, Dystopia, and Unknown T. ‘Caprisongs’, is set to be released on January 14th, 2022.

The singer posted on her social media, "Hey I made you a mixtape, because when I feel you, I feel me and when I feel me, it feels good… CAPRISONGS is my journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends." Further in her caption, FKA Twigs shared, "CAPRISONGS… it's bronzer in the sink, alco pop on the side, a cherry lolly, apple juice when ur thirsty, friends in the park, your favourite person, that one sentence somebody said to you that changed everything, a club pre-game, your bestie who is always late but brings the most to the party, meeting a friend at the airport, just togetherness, my world, London, Hackney, L.A., New York, Jamaica. It's my stubborn caprisun ass telling me to work thrumy pain by delivering at work, don't think just go studio and create, my saggi moon being the enigmatic temptress craving the club, to dance and to be social, and my pisce venus hot mess disastrous heart falling in love all over again, but this time with music and with myself."

‘Caprisongs’, marks FKA Twigs’ first full-length project since her sophomore album, titled "Magdalene’, which came out in 2019, along with her return to music after she filed a lawsuit against actor and ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf in December 2020.

FKA Twigs started working on the album during the lockdown, as she shared during her interview with Louis Theroux, "All via the internet, all working with people that I’ve never worked with before. I’ve got more collaborations and features on this album than I’ve ever had before, the majority with people I’ve never met in real life." Adding more, the singer explained her new album, "ironically, a lot lighter than the usual music that I make. I spent so much time in darkness…that when I’ve been in lockdown, I’ve been really missing my friends and going out…and dancing. I’ve wanted to make music for the people closest to me that I love."

FKA accused Shia of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, and her lawsuit also included that Shia knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease. She said, "What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I've ever been through in the whole of my life. I don't think people would ever think that it would happen to me. But I think that's the thing. It can happen to anybody." She also claimed that Shia would squeeze her arm to the "point of bruising," and she did not go to the police to report the abuse because she thought of not harming his career and also because she "thought her account would not be taken seriously."

Shia LaBeouf has denied all the allegations, and his legal team stated that he "denies, generally and specifically, each and every allegation contained in [Barnett]'s Complaint, denies that [Barnett] has sustained any injury or loss by reason of any act or omission on the part of [LaBeouf], and denies that [Barnett] is entitled to any relief or damages whatsoever." It was also reported that Shia’s legal team has also denied the allegation claimed by FKA Twigs that he hurt her physically, and his lawyers said, "none of the acts alleged were based on sex and/or the conduct was not sexual."

Shia LaBeouf’s representative asked for the judgment to be entered in his favor and for FKA Twigs to be ordered to pay for his legal costs and ‘further relief as the Court may deem just and proper. For now, Shia LaBeouf is on an acting hiatus so "that he can get the help he needs" following the lawsuit.

In December, it was reported by FKA Twigs’ attorney Bryan Freedman that, FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriend Karolyn Pho also alleged instances of abuse by the actor, and added, FKA and Pho had "tried to resolve this matter privately on the condition that Mr. LaBeouf agrees to receive meaningful and consistent psychological treatment." Since he was unwilling to agree to get appropriate help, Ms. Barnett filed this suit to prevent others from unknowingly suffering similar abuse by him. "

Since FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, she has joined a global campaign to help prevent domestic and sexual violence for women. Caprisongs will be available for streaming and download on January 14th, 2022 via Young Recordings/ Atlantic, and the lead single from the album, titled, ‘Tears in the Club’, is already out and features The Weeknd. The lead single, according to reports and critics, is a dark dance track that showcases the singer's experimental tendencies, which have recently evolved for the better.

FKA Twigs has used lyrics such as "I wanna get you out of my hips, my thighs, my hair, my eyes, my late-night cries/ I wanna take my clothes off, wanna touch my hips, my thighs, my hair, not yours, all mine," implying that she is reclaiming ownership of her body from former boyfriend Shia
