Acting is a diverse field that offers a vast array of new lessons and exciting experiences that could help shape a fascinating career. Imogen Poots is one such performing artist who is incredibly invested in choosing only the best and the most diversified characters for herself.

The actress recently talked with Collider on Collider Ladies' Night and shared her experience with her career. The actress is presently Outer Range, a Prime Video limited series that will run for eight episodes. The series stars Josh Brolin as Roya Abbott, who deals with a strange supernatural phenomenon at his place.

Abbott is a Wyoming rancher who finds that there is a giant unexplained hole on his property. Unexpectedly, Autumn, played by Poots, makes way to the Wyoming ranch that day wanting a place of shelter. Royal Abbott is initially hesitant to bring her in but agrees.

Autumn soon gets invested in the history of the inexplicable hole in the backyard and also forms a connection with the family.

Poots now shared all the turns her character took to reach this character in Outer Range and how she has explored different experiences over time as she made her way with her acting career. She also talked about what other projects she wishes she can embark on and how clear the next steps of her journey feel to her.

Being in the industry for a long time, the actress has seen the ups and downs of young fame and being in the industry since childhood. She shared that it has been a good experience since she started in the industry as a young child and being in the industry for this long has made her learn all the details of her career with first-hand experiences.

Notably, she has been living through it for a far longer time and hence has had more time to learn the basics of being an actor. It happened to add more learning experiences and also bring more information to her as an artist.

It also gave her more time to develop a style, look at different types of roles, and experiment more with characters. As a young actor, you need not stick with a particular type of role and can go with whatever you receive and listen to more experiences from people around you.

It gives young actors time to find what they are supposed to do. But it is okay to have the time period as not actors are sure what roles to pick with their own voluntary choices.

But with Time, Poots did find her niche and what she wants to do with her acting career. Her role on Need for Speed, the 2014 adaptation in which she starred along with Aaron Paul, helped her find clarity in her career.

The film stars Paul as a street racer who is looking to take revenge for the death of his friend. The production helped Poots realize that she did not actually relate to that film.

She explained that Need for Speed was a fascinating project that featured a story revolving around car races and features a lovely cast. While the film was great, it did not resonate with her acting style and she decided that it was something that did not hold much value for her when it came to acting and also in real life.

It was the one lesson that she learned by starring in the wrong project and even though she learned that there are many people who particularly like the films like Need for Speed, it was something that she is not very keen on. It made me realize that she wants to work on some other kinds of projects.

Along with helping her realize that she did not like Need for Speed, the project also pushed her one step closer to finding the projects that she really enjoyed. She admitted that starring in these kinds of roles had made her become less arrogant as compared to when she was younger.

She stopped criticizing projects and understood that if she doesn't want to do a project, it does not mean that the work is necessarily bad. It helped her realize that she can choose projects that can help her enjoy her time and also have fun at the same time.

The actress then went on to choose independent projects that have solidified her stance in the industry as a bold and clear-headed young actress who is sure about what she needs to do in her career.

The actress also clarified that her experience with Need For Speed had nothing to do with his mega-budget or size or the fact that the film revolved around the masculine egos of the male characters. She added that the actors were great people to be around and yet there was something that did not click for her in that film.

She admitted that her negative experience might have something to do with the individual project itself and the subject that she had to act on. She was not very comfortable with the character she played and did not like the way she was written.

Poots is now doing great with projects like Outer Range and more that call out to her and she feels better portraying characters that are closer to her heart.
