Megan Thee Stallion was honored with the Trailblazer Award at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 22nd, 2022, at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

While accepting the honor from Kelly Rowland, the American rapper thanked Kelly Rowland for presenting her with the award, as she mentioned that Kelly is a Houston legend and everyone loves her, so getting the award from her means a lot to her. She also thanked iHeart for presenting her with the award.

Megan Thee Stallion remembered to thank the women who had been honored with the Trailblazer Award before her and said that without them, there would be no her and without the hotties, there would be no Hot Girl Coach.

The rapper, who looked grateful for the honor, said that she wants to use her platform to keep continuing to be a voice for those who are unable to voice their opinions. She said she will keep fighting for all the injustices that she, black women, and men are facing and she will keep showing up even in the face of adversity.

Megan Thee Stallion was also one of the performers at the ceremony, and the audience got to hear her new duet "Sweetest Pie" with Dua Lipa, which dropped earlier this month. She also performed her song "Megan’s Piano."

Megan had shared during an interview with Zane Lowe how the "sweetest pie" came to be. She said that she saw a lot of mashups of her songs with Dua Lipa’s songs and that sounded good to her, so she got in touch with the singer and explained that she wants to collaborate, but the beat has to be perfect.

Talking about Dua Lipa, Megan said that she is very chill and not mean, as she thought of her when she checked her social media profile. Megan described Dua as one of the people who has a calming spirit and a really sweet person who is humble and kind.

The trailblazer award for Megan comes after she responded to a news on social media that mentioned that her record label, 1501 Entertainment, for the release of her last project, "Something For The Hotties," is suing her. (Counter suing to Megan’s lawsuit, which she filed in February) According to Megan, the project fulfills the requirements of an album, but the record label has disagreed and mentioned that the project provided by the rapper includes some spoken interlude recordings and some of her previously released recordings hence, it does not fulfills the requirement of an album.

Carl Crawford has also mentioned that Megan Thee Stallion owes the label more recordings and money. Carl is also requesting a full accounting of the rapper’s proceeds from collaborations, sponsorships, endorsements, and any side engagements if any. Megan’s lawyer, Brad Hancock, has released a statement where he mentioned that this countersuit is another way by 1501 to disregard her album and extract more money and work from her. Brad added that they will ask the court to protect Megan Thee Stallion from this type of abuse.
