Dan Reynolds and Aja Volkman announce split.
Imagine Dragons lead singer, Dan Reynolds, and wife Aja Volkman, have decided to go their separate ways. The ex-couple share four kids: Arrow Eve, twins Gia James and Coco Rae, and Valentine.
Dan Reynolds took to his Twitter to share a post that he is saddened to announce that after many beautiful years together, he and Aja Volkman have decided to separate, and he mentioned that their top priority is going to be great parents to their children. The vocalist also thanked everyone for the support, love, and care they have shown towards them over the years.
Dan Reynolds and Aja Volkman married in 2011, and after seven years together, they announced their first separation in 2018. At the time, Dan Reynolds stated that their children will remain their top priority, and they will continue to co-parent them with all their love.
But in 2019, a post shared by Aja Volkman clarified that the couple had been trying to work on making their marriage and relationship work. She wrote that she knows that it’s been a crazy road that has killed them both in so many moments. Aja added that last year they killed each other (their relationship) and now they are rebuilding one another and mentioned that one can become their own worst self in the eye of a giant storm and stated that one almost has to, it's a rite of passage and concluded that it’s the only road to a better existence and a more mature sense of self.
For a cover story for Parents in 2019, the former couple got candid about the time when they were separated, and Dan Reynolds described the seven months they were apart as his apocalypse. The vocalist shared with People magazine that they started going to therapy and putting in a lot of work to keep their family strong and mentioned that, fortunately for them, the extra work they put in and the therapy worked.
The former couple continued that if they had not been able to get through it, they would have still been great parents to the children, just like many other couples who had paved that route. He said that relationships are complex. In April 2019, Dan Reynolds shared with US Weekly that they have decided to just keep working on it and it’s been a work in progress and they are doing great.
Dan continued that his main objective on the platform he has been given is to demonstrate to the public that everyone has problems and to explain that relationships, marriages, and even his own body are not ideal. He disclosed that he suffers from ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis, anxiety, and depression and came to the conclusion that nobody is flawless and that everyone is just human.
The lead singer of Imagine Dragons asked the following question in a March 2021 TikTok video: "Have you ever gotten a text that altered your life?" The two had not spoken for seven months when the singer noticed Aja sending him a text message that completely changed his perspective. Dan reported that Aja claimed she didn't have to own him to love him and came to the conclusion that she did so without conditions. After leaving the attorneys, the couple headed to eat.
