Halsey is speaking for abortion rights.

Singer Halsey is opening up about their experience of suffering multiple pregnancy losses until she gave birth to their first child, Ender.

In an op-ed published in Vogue on July 1st, Halsey stated that they find it very ironic that they had very little trouble getting pregnant yet had trouble maintaining the pregnancy and further mentioned that a lot of people have asked them especially now that they have brought a child to term after years of battling, their opinion on the Supreme Court's decision to reverse the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling that had protected the constitutional right to abortion in the United States for over 50 years.

Halsey said that they have never felt more strongly about their stance than they do now. They went on to say in the op-ed that one of their miscarriages required "aftercare," which Halsey described as a gentle way of saying that they would need an abortion because their bodies were unable to terminate the pregnancy completely on their own and they were at risk of developing sepsis without medical intervention. The singer continued that during the procedure, they cried and were afraid and helpless and just wanted to desperately end the pregnancy because it was threatening their life.

Halsey wrote in their op-ed that their abortion saved their life and gave their son a way to come into this universe and have a wonderful life. The singer continued that just like them, every person deserves the right to choose when, if, and how they have this dangerous and life-altering experience and mentioned that they will hold their son in one arm and fight with all of their might with the other.

The singer said that the world stopped when Ender was born adding that their body, which they had detested for years because it frequently "failed," had performed flawlessly. In the post-labor weariness, Halsey notes that they had let out a single tear which they say was a happy tear of their body's excellent judgment. They added that instant condensed their whole life's chapter of abortions and miscarriages into a single page and mentioned that it was only separated into everything that existed "before" this point and everything that will follow it. Years of suffering from risky and undesired pregnancies, followed by the joy of being a mother on purpose.

Halsey in the op-ed mentioned that they had decided to re-write their will just incase if they would not be able to make it which was all because of the past experiences. They shared that they had provided specific instructions for organ donations since, if they were to be deemed brain-dead, the state would be authorized to cut into their warm, still-flushing flesh and remove the organs to save the lives of others. Halsey remarked that they think its ironic that while a beating heart in their pregnancy may prevent them from giving the consent to save their own life, while their own heart would just be a sequence of uncontrollable motions on an operating table.

The op-ed and comments about abortion by Halsey come after the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which makes abortion illegal in the United States. After the verdict was announced, Halsey performed a scheduled concert in Phoenix, Arizona, where they spoke against the ruling of the Supreme Court that prompted a lot of fans to walk out of the concert.

At the concert, Halsey said that some of the people they are looking at right now are going to need an abortion one day and they deserve it, adding that whether it’s a life-threatening situation or not, people deserve it. For the person on their left and right to have the right to live for the rest of their life in Arizona, according to Halsey, individuals must pledge that they would carry out that task. The singer added that they can go home and said that if someone does not like it, they do not know why they came to a Halsey concert.

Some of the fans did take a little offense and took to their social media to express that they paid to watch them perform on-stage and not listen to their opinions or views, and added that their argument sounded dumb. Halsey responded by saying that fans pay to watch them express themselves on stage in the way they see fit and that some individuals lack the critical thinking skills to understand that music's rhetorical power doesn't always offer escapism. They went on to say that they have included abortion statics in each act ever since the tour began in May, that 16,500 people attended their most recent performance, and that they believe they will be discovered because their supporters are on the right side of history.

Halsey is the latest celebrity to share their abortion story as previously actresses including Hilarie Burton, Ireland BaldwinMeadow WalkerCheryl Burke, and others have taken to the social media to talk about their challenges with pregnancy and the need for abortion law along with stating their dissatisfaction with the verdict's announcement. Some of the fans have supported their opinions while some of them have called them out but none of it has ever stopped the strong and powerful women and the men to stop speaking about something that they truly believe in.
