TRIGGER WARNING: RAPE

Ireland Baldwin shares her experience with 'being raped', 'unexpected pregnancy' and 'abortion'.

The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark Supreme Court decision of 1973, Roe v. Wade, which granted women the right to an abortion in every state, sparked a lot of outrage among the people and celebrities who not only shared how disappointed they were with the verdict but also mentioned that the Supreme Court did not ban abortion; they simply banned safe abortion.

Ireland Baldwin is one of the many celebrities who has decided to share her extreme disappointment in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned and shared with the world that she was a victim of rape and later decided to get an abortion.

The model posted a video to her TikTok account with the caption "she is here for them," but before she began to talk about her experience, she said that she felt it was not anyone's responsibility to talk about abortion if they didn't feel comfortable, referring to the videos she had seen online where women were coming out and encouraging other women to share their abortion stories. Ireland added that women should only share their personal experiences if they wish to and not because someone has asked them to.

Ireland said that whether other women want to share their private experiences with the public or not, she is just sharing her tale because she wants other women to feel supported and loved. Later, she admitted that she had been sexually assaulted as a youngster. She said that the episode, which happened while she was fully asleep, altered the direction of the rest of her life.

The model and daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin shared that she did not tell anyone about the rape except the nurse who treated her shortly after it happened. She stated she had held the secret inside of herself for years since she had damaged and caused a lot of sorrow to herself and the people she loved. She did not tell her parents or her boyfriend at the time about what had happened with her and decided to deal with all of it on her own. Ireland said that her long-held anguish and shame caused her to spiral, and finally, she claimed that she lost control of her life.

Ireland explained that she claimed that she began to drink more, go out more, self-medicate, and engage in additional toxic interactions and relationships to escape the anguish and shame she was experiencing. She added that after hearing so many other women's tales, she began to wonder what her life would have been like if she had become pregnant and had to raise a child while she was in agony and suffering as a result of what had happened to her. This is why she is disclosing all of this now.

Alec Baldwin’s daughter noted that the pregnancy would have been devastating and hard for her to deal with and that people should take notice of the fact that she had access to medical services, money, and support that many other women do not have. She explains later in the video how she and her then-boyfriend suddenly became pregnant even though they did not plan on it. She said that her partner at the time had made it apparent that he had no interest in having children or getting married, and said that he could barely want to be in a committed relationship, so she decided to get an abortion since she was dissatisfied with him.

She continued, that she chose to have an abortion because she knew exactly how it felt to be born to parents who do not get along or hate each other and added that maybe, maybe not, she could have chosen to have the baby and place them for adoption, but she knew it would never work for her to raise a child without her financial security and a loving and supportive partner. Ireland said that at that moment she chose herself and she would once again choose herself and add that it’s your life and it’s your choice.

Since the Supreme Court of the United States announced its decision to reverse Roe v. Wade on Friday, several states, including Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, and South Dakota, have already outlawed abortion as a result of "trigger bans" that governors implemented in response to the SCOTUS decision.
