Aidan Shaw is coming back.

According to reports in the news of ‘And Just Like That’, actor John Corbett, who played Aidan Shaw in ‘Sex and the City, is going to make his way back for the second season of ‘And Just Like That’. Deadline reported that John Corbett is set for a substantial, multi-episode arc in season two in the spin off show.

John Corbett appeared on Sex and the City for the first time in season three as Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker’s love interest, and soon became a fan favorite as a recurring alternate romantic partner to Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth. After making numerous more appearances throughout the series, Aidan Shaw was last seen in season 6. He then reappeared in Sex and the City 2 when Carrie runs across him at a street market in Abu Dhabi.

Aidan and Carrie dated for a while before getting engaged in seasons three and four of Sex and the City, but they broke up the first time after Carrie confessed to him that she slept with Mr. Big. They rekindled their romance but eventually broke up after Carrie couldn’t commit after Aidan proposed to her.

The rumors of John Corbett’s return as Aidan Shaw in ‘And Just Like That’ started to circulate during the filming of season one. However, it was later reported that John said it as a joke, where the actor shared with Page Six publication in 2021 that he is part of the spin-off show and added that maybe he is going to appear in a few episodes and mentioned that he likes everyone on the show and that they have been very nice to him.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker said that it was fun for John Corbett to mention that he is a part of the spin off and said that when he apologized for the joke, she responded by telling him that it is a free nation and that it was amusing and lovely. Although writer Julie Rottenberg told Deadline that John Corbett need to send out personal messages of apologies and that they were silent.

Executive Producer of the show "And Just Like That" Michael Patrick King in response to Julie's remark clarified that the truth is that they never mentioned Aidan Shaw, just as they never mentioned Steve and Carrie or their relationships. Michael continued by saying that regardless of whether Aidan shows up or not, they always strive to exercise extreme restraint and consider the reality of what people are going through. This just seemed like too much for Carrie. The last episode is titled "Seeing the Light," and she noted that the first season was a lot for her after Mr. Big's passing. They wanted to help her move past his death and into the light. The executive producer continued by saying that they wanted to get her out and that Aidan's return is a significant plot point that everyone at home wrote that we hadn't expected.

John Corbett’s return to the show comes after Chris Noth, who played Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest, was written off the show after three women came forward and accused the actor for sexual assault, and it was reported that the makers had to re-edit his remaining scenes after the death of his character, Mr. Big and cut him off completely. Chris Noth has denied all the allegations against him

Just like Chris Noth was written off the show, one of the leading actresses of Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall, who played the iconic role of Samantha Jones, was also written off the show with the spin-off series focusing on Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon’s Miranda, and Kristin Davis’ Charlotte as the main leads and their lives. During the last few seconds of the spin-off series' season one finale, Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw is seen kissing podcast producer Franklyn, who is played by Ivan Hernandez, indicating that she is prepared to start dating again after a period of grieving following the death of Mr. Big.

John Corbett's Aidan Shaw's return has not yet been confirmed by the makers though.
