Season 3 of Ted Lasso could be the final season.

Brett Goldstein, Ted Lasso’s breakout star and writer, recently spoke to The Times, where he mentioned that there is a high chance that season three of the successful Apple TV+ comedy series is going to be the last.

Brett Goldstein said that the writers of the show are writing the season as if it’s going to end because that was always the plan. To get three seasons of the show and then he joked that everyone does in the end. Back in 2021, Jason Sudeikis, who stars in the show and is also the executive producer of the show, mentioned during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that season three could be it.

Jason said that he is unsure about, but season three may be the final season since the tale he knows is the one he wanted to tell, and it is the one they will tell with a variety of individuals in front of and behind the camera. However, he also stated that the tale being presented is a three-season arc, so he is unsure, but thanked Apple TV+ for funding for three seasons.

Brendan Hunt, the co-creator of the series and also plays coach on the show said they originally planned to have three seasons, and given how much the audience has liked and loved the show, it would be good if they kept to their guns and developed three seasons, but none of them expected the program to garner so much adoration. Brendan said that normally, shows don't have that kind of effect if they repeat the word "f—-" so many times, and they're in a kind of no man's land here, still befuddled by the response, and he believes that may soften hard-hearted old Jason Sudeikis a little bit.

The co-creator of the show added that whatever the makers decide, he will happily abide. Brendan Hunt had told The Hollywood Reporter in October that Ted Lasso's coolest trait is that before they started filming the show, they planned out the beginning, middle, and conclusion for all of the characters. He also believes the tale will conclude next year, regardless of whether the production finds another story to tell and continues.

Bill Lawrence, who is also the executive producer of the show, believes that even though Jason Sudeikis had a three-season arc, he hopes that there are more Ted Lasso stories to tell post-third season. He gave examples like Ted Lasso moving home and coaching the professional team, etc.

The successful comedy-drama Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is a perpetually upbeat college football coach who, despite having no prior coaching experience, is hired by an English Premier League side. Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Phil Dunster, and Nick Mohammed also feature in Ted Lasso.

As TVLine has discovered, Ted Lasso's return has been postponed due to a later-than-usual production start. Seasons 1 and 2 launched in August and July, respectively, but according to The Sunday Times, Hunt has promised that Season 3 would run "before the end of the year."
