Jacob Elordi will portray Elvis Presley.

Actor Jacob Elordi has been roped in to play the iconic Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming movie "Priscilla," in which actress Cailee Spaeny is set to portray the character of Priscilla Presley.

The film "Priscilla" is based on Priscilla Presley's memoir "Elvis and Me," which was published in 1985 and provided insight and an intimate account of the iconic couple's life together. Sofia Coppola has written the script and is all set to direct the movie, which the team will start filming this fall in Toronto.

In addition to Vision Distribution managing distribution in Italy, where it will subsequently become a Sky exclusive, A24 will handle distribution of the project in North America. The movie will be released internationally by Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing. Following "On the Rocks" and "The Bling Ring," this is Sofia Coppola and A24's third joint project. Additionally, the two are working together on a television series adaption of Edith Wharton's "The Custom of the Country."

Sofia Coppola will reportedly reunite with her old associates for the film, including editor Sarah Flack, cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, costume designer Stacey Battat, and production designer Tamara Deverell.

Elvis Presley and Priscilla got married in 1967 and the couple got divorced in 1973, which was four years before Elvis Presley passed away. Lisa Marie Presley, a daughter of the former marriage, was born. The memoir, co-written by Priscilla and Sandra Harmon, details her relationship with Elvis from her perspective. While the singer was frequently portrayed favorably, particularly at the time, the biography paints a different image. From the time the pair first met, when Priscilla was fourteen and Elvis was twenty-four, until their divorce, the book details their journey. The book details Priscilla's perspective on their contentious relationship, which was rife with rumors of both sides' extramarital relationships, Elvis's drug usage, and much more.

Jacob Elordi, who is famous for playing Nate Jacobs on HBO’s Euphoria, while Cailee Spaeny appeared on HBO’s Mare of Easttown along with 2018’s Bad Times at the El Royale. The actors will be the latest stars to portray the iconic couple on screen, as recently, actors Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge played Priscilla and Elvis Presley in a biographical music drama from Warner Bros. titled "Elvis".

Reports suggest that Sofia Coppola has been introspecting about the project for a while now and Cailee Spaeny was always the number one choice for the part. After meeting several actors for the role of Elvis, Sofia saw her Elvis in Jacob Elordi.

Jacob Elordi confirmed the rumors about him playing Elvis on-screen by posting a photo of Elvis on his social media accounts. The actor talked candidly about his transfer to Los Angeles in an interview with GQ conducted last month. He admitted that Euphoria was his last audition before he returned home for a short period to make some money and recover after the success of The Kissing Booth because he was having trouble getting work and was frequently camped out on a friend's couch or occasionally in his 2004 Mitsubishi on Mulholland Drive. When the initial cast members were chosen for the part, Jacob Elordi was still residing in his car and trailer. Sam Levinson then helped him get a room at the Standard in West Hollywood.

Jacob Elordi expressed how much he enjoyed working on Euphoria and explained how, when he collaborates with Sam Levinson, he puts himself in his shoes, trusts him, and works tirelessly to improve himself for him. Jacob claimed that although some have advised him not to work himself to death for his craft, he claims he likes it. The actor who portrays his father on the program, Eric Dane, tells the interviewer over the phone that Jacob has that degree of attention that one should maintain throughout the day so that one can stay at that low boil and keep performing over and over again. He added that they have fun and the young actor has this boisterous charisma but he’s always focused, and he’s always prepared.
