James Corden is ready to say goodbye to The Late Late Show.

James Corden announced during the recording of the CBS network’s "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in Los Angeles that it was the hardest decision he ever had to make, but he is ready to bid adieu to the show in the summer of 2023.

James Corden, who started hosting the show in 2015 and had managed to create a buzz and excitement over his viral Carpool Karaoke segments, extended his contract for one more season before leaving the show after eight years. Last year, James Corden told Variety that he never saw the talk show as his final destination, but rather as a stop along the way.

The host spoke to Deadline and shared that deciding to leave the show after eight years was one of the hardest decisions he has ever taken because he is very proud of the way the show has evolved and he is excited that he gets to host for one more season and leave it with a bang. James added that he had always thought that he’d do it for five years and leave, but he stayed because he enjoyed it. He had been thinking about leaving and going on different adventures in his life.

It should be noted that James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke is one of the most exciting and fun segments of the show in which the host channelizes the singer inside of him along with the celebrities that he invites. More than 250 million people have seen Adele's Carpool Karaoke, while 189 million people have watched One Direction's Carpool Karaoke. James Corden also introduced other fun segments like Drop the Mic, Spill Your Guts, and Crosswalk Musical to the show that have garnered the attention of the audience.

James Corden shared that his bosses had been very supportive and understanding when he shared his decision with them. CBS executives from their ends tried to keep James Corden on the show and according to sources offered him a variety of deals which included a three-year extension, a two-year extension and a rolling one-year deal before he made his final decision which is to leave. 

George Cheeks,President and CEO said in a statement that when James Corden took over as host of the show seven years ago, and with his tremendous creative and comic swings, he took television by storm, resonating with both the audience and the guests he interviewed. James Corden introduced various segments on the show which helped the show to reach new heights and these segments included Crosswalk the Musical, Carpool Karaoke,  Drop the Mic, Spill Your Guts. 

The President added that the host has been a consummate network showman who has been entertaining audiences not only in Television City but also on the Tony and Grammy stages. He added that during his two years at CBS, he had the opportunity to witness James Corden's creativity first hand and he  to benefit from his beneficial relationship with the network, both as a performer and as a producer. George added that the network is sad that he's leaving but is very excited for James Corden's future endeavours before stating that they are just grateful that he has agreed to stay for one more season.

On asking whether he is planning to move back to the United Kingdom or stay in the United States, James Corden shared that right now he has no idea what they will be doing because they love living here and none of his family members have taken what they have got for granted. James added that every time he drives down Sunset to work, he thinks that he is from High Wycombe. 

James further shared that although he loves his job, there are other things that he thinks he’d like to do, like writing, as there are some stories he’d like to share. He added that the fact that it’s tiring is the reason to do it. The host shared that he had worked in the most joyous working environment and that he appreciated his staff and said that he wanted to tell them that now they could all go into the last year with absolute enthusiasm, passion, and love. The host went head to mention that the show is not created just by one person and he is very fortunate and blessed to have worked with such amazing talented people whose creativity and vision blows his mind away.

James Corden shared that one of the things that he is going to miss is to think about what adventure next he'd take on and referred to times when he jumped out of an aircraft with Tom Cruise, driving around the White House in a car with Michelle Obama, and singing "Penny Lane" with Paul McCartney while driving down Penny Lane. 

James Corden said that he never thought that the show could reach to a level where is it today and his objective is to leave in the same manner; with a bang. Other than hosting such an exciting show, James Corden also some of the acting credits in his resume like  Peter Rabbit, Cats, and The Prom for which he was nominated under the category of Best Actor for Golden Globes. The host is also a partner in a production company Fulwell 73 that is putting on Hulu's The Kardashians and Camila Cabello's Cinderella. James Corden is also going to co-star in Amazon's upcoming comedy-drama series 'Mammals with Sally Hawkins.'
