Jamie Campbell Bower celebrates 8 years of sobriety.

Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower has taken some time to reflect on the progress he has made since he decided to get sober eight years ago and took to his social media to share his experience with his fans.

The actor Jamie Campbell Bower thanked God for his current circumstances while recalling his past self, who was still actively abusing drugs and alcohol, but who is now, eight years later, happy, healthy, and employed. He wrote on his Twitter how his addiction had gotten so serious that it finally forced him into a psychiatric institution 12 and a half years ago, harming both himself and those who loved him the most.

On Stranger Things, Jamie Campbell, who portrays Vecna aka Henry Creel aka One, added to a tweet that he has been sober for seven and a half years and that he has made many errors in his life but that every day offers a fresh start. The actor continued by saying that he learned from his errors, expanded, and advised anyone who wakes up thinking, "Oh God, not again," to find a solution. He also expressed gratitude for where he is in life now. Jamie finished by pointing out that we are all still developing.

Lauren Samuels responded to his post by reminiscing about how he used to write the days of the week on his hands during practice and remarking on how far he had come. Jamie Campbell Bower responded by saying that there is no way in the world that he could have accomplished it without her and that he would always be grateful to her.

One of the admirers of the actor wrote that the actor made some errors, but he also asked for and welcomed the support he required to get and stay on the right path. He took action and the user mentioned that they deal with addiction so they are aware that how hard it is. Another fan noted that by being so honest about his struggle, Jamie has made his fans happy as they could relate to it and mentioned that to survive each day requires so much perseverance. The fans mentioned that they will stand by his side through it all because everyone loves him.

A representative for the addiction organization Turning Point, Nat Travis, informed the BBC of the benefit that such a prominent individual speaking out may have on others seeking assistance, making it "a bit less terrifying." Nat mentioned that people can recognize that it could happen to anyone but people can come out of the addiction and stay sober. Jamie Campbell Bower is a living example.

The 33-year-old actor said that he is in treatment in a September 2019 interview with i-D, and one of the lessons they teach people in recovery is to be brutally honest about their feelings. These feelings might range from guilt to shame to fear to despair, or anything else. The most crucial factor, he continued to express exactly how one is feeling in that moment but it is an essential part of recovery.

With the words "If you've seen the bottom, if you've given up, trust me, my sister, there is hope for us," Jamie Campbell Bower made references to mental health and addiction in his 2019 song "It Gets Better," which he recorded with his band Counterfeit.

The actor who entered the industry with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opposite Johnny Depp in 2007, joins several other famous people who have spoken up about their struggles with addiction when they were young, including Daniel Radcliffe, with whom Jamie Campbell Bower co-starred in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Demi Lovato, Drew Barrymore, and Hayden Panettiere.
