One of the most loved romantic films from the past century has to be Somewhere in Time. While the film features a heartwarming tale of love, the real love story that the film gave birth to is an even greater tale of a tear-jerking romance.

Jane Seymour, the timeless and graceful actress of the film spoke at TCM Classic Film and shared the love that bloomed between her and her co-star from the Christopher Reeve as they filmed the time-travel romance together. While the actress has always been open about sharing her friendship with Reeve from those days, the two rarely discussed the romantic relationship that they developed while filming the movie.

Only recently, Jane Seymour opened up about her very secret love affair with the actor. When talking with TCM host Alicia Malone, the actress admitted that when they were shooting Somewhere in Time, she and Reeve fell very much in love. This comes as a piece of very shocking news for the audience that has loved the duo for a long time now, yet there was never an official confirmation about the relationship between Seymour and Reeve.

It was because the actor and the actress kept their relationship very much under wraps and never let anyone know of them being in love. Yet, the sizzling chemistry the two shared in Somewhere in Time, though half credited to their amazing acting prowess, was actually the result of them being in love in real life too.

Still, a few people who worked with them on the production kind of realized that there was something real in between the couple. However, the two were very discreet about their affection and managed to keep things subtle.

The actress did let out the secret of her relationship with Reeve one time earlier when she was being interviewed on PeopleTV's Couch Surfing. However, she did not give much detail about their love life and how things turned out for the two.

But this time during the TCM Festival, the lady went into the particulars of her relationship with Reeve and looked very emotionally invested in the connection even now. The actress even teared up a little when she revealed how the stars worked against the love of the two and hence they could not be together with each other despite their love.

Things were even more difficult for them as they had to film together an incredible couple on the sets of the production. Their relationship on the sets of the film took a turn for the worse just when they had to say goodbye to each other in life. In fact, they broke up the same way when Seymour's character, Elise, loses Richard, the character of Reeve.

Recalling her beautiful relationship with the actor, the actress shared that the two were "madly in love" back then and had an amazing life. Both were single at the time, at the top of their careers with getting to live an amazing life filled with wonders. But things took an unexpected turn out of nowhere for the couple one day.

Seymour recalled that one day she walked into work on the film sets and was preparing for a pretty important scene in the story. Chris was already on set as he had to come half an hour earlier and when she reached she was told that Chris Reeve wanted to talk to her.

Seymour was instantly confused because she had a great conversation with the character only earlier and could not comprehend what other matters were left to discuss.

The actress revealed that the actor was actually going to become the father to his ex-girlfriend's child and had not known about it. He only got to know when the former partner revealed the news to the world.

The ex-girlfriend, Gae Exton, was expecting the couple's first child together, Matthew. They later once again had another child, this time a daughter, Alexandra.

The news totally destroyed Seymour but she had to keep on going and continue with their scene for the day. The scene included the first time the couple became intimate on-screen only with the character of Reeve to once again leave her as he is taken by the turns of the time.

The actress collected herself the best she could and went on to film her scene. She admitted that even now when she looks back at the scene, she can see the tears that threatened to leak but she held back while shooting the scene with Chris Reeve.

The scene required her character Elise to be very happy at the moment, and the actress had to constantly remind herself to not cry and act as her part required of her. The actress also shared that she and Reeve maintained their friendship for their entire life and that they kept in touch.

The actress also talked about her other most memorable roles with Entertainment Weekly. She and Reeve were such good friends that the actress named her son Kristopher after her friend.

Though Seymour and Reeve did not get to have a beautiful love story, the actress is very happy about the fact that Chris went on to have a nice life and had two beautiful children. The families also got the chance to meet each other many times.

They continued on with their close friendship for a very long time until the time the actor passed away. Seymour still holds out hope that the two will get to meet each other in another lifetime.
