Jessica Chastain talks about creating a happy work-life balance and embracing the fun side of social media.

Actress Jessica Chastain, who won the 94th Academy Award under the category of Best Actress for her portrayal of Tammy Faye in the movie "The Eyes of Tammy Faye," recently spoke to Net-a-Porter and talked about how she likes to embrace the fun side of social media by sharing some traversing wittily captioned selfies, getting ready videos, and, of course, red carpet antics. Jessica said that she embraces the fun side and has enlisted someone to help her push herself beyond what she thinks she is comfortable with.

Jessica Chastain, although she embraces social media, makes sure to keep a professional voice and shared that she does not want to publicly create a record of her personal life that then does not allow itself to grow, evolve, and change. The actress added that she has a lot of empathy for the people around her, especially the teenagers who are supposed to make mistakes, and said that is how human beings grow, but now there is always going to be a record of them.

The actress, who is highly appreciated for her work, mentioned during the interview that she constantly asks herself about what she is sharing or putting out into the world; is it meaningful to others or, in terms of Tammy Faye, helping someone to feel that they are accepted and loved the way they are. The actress has a long history of being a passionate and outspoken supporter of gender equality, both inside and outside her profession. She describes the change she has witnessed since the beginning of her career as "seismic" and said that it is great because people are now moving away from that, regardless of how many people try to make them all stay in the paths of society or societal upbringing dictates that people (women) must follow

Jessica Chastain added about the changes in the industry, saying that people entering the industry now have a different set of rules than those that were followed 12 years ago and that in the past if she approached a director about something, it would have been a no, no conversation, no anything, just a straight no. She also said that, as far as she remembered, she or any other actress who had an idea for a scene had to speak to the male actor they were working with and then, if he liked the idea, he would bring it up to the director. She added that it was a silly game that had to be played, but now things have changed for the better.

Jessica Chastain acknowledged that even though things have changed compared to the past, there is a long way for actresses to go and mentioned that people are probably treating her differently because she has been a part of a lot of movies. Jessica appreciated her publicist, Nicole Perna, who she says has been a monumental person in her life. Further in her interview, she recalled how she found her way to acting and said that she was seven when her grandmother took her to a play and told her that the actors in the play were professional and she thought this was her easy.

Jessica added that she feels like she has a skill set for storytelling, so she is not fighting against anything and work is one of the happiest places for her. She will be seen in the recent release, "The Forgiven," a thriller set in Morocco. She is a public supporter of Planned Parenthood and spoke about the decision of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and said that she thinks that people need to remind each other what history used to look like for women because it feels like people have forgotten.

She continued that in some sense, people have taken the idea of being able to live free of violence and someone else making decisions for them for granted, and this is a reminder of what it is like when one group loses their rights and it starts to affect everyone.
