The high-profile defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard that was held in Fairfax County, Virginia, was televised for the world to witness, and after six weeks of presenting various evidence, depositions, witnesses, and going through cross-examination, the jury found out that Amber Heard had defamed Johnny Depp in her article, which was published in 2018.

In her op-ed that was published in the Washington Post, she accused the actor of domestic violence and abuse without naming him, after which Johnny Depp decided to sue her as he said that in their relationship it was Amber Heard who was the perpetrator, not him. Johnny Depp also mentioned that as soon as the false accusations against him by Amber Heard went public, he lost a couple of major projects he was working on and soon became one of the celebrities who was "canceled" by the industry.

The jury in Fairfax County, Virginia rewarded Johnny Depp with more than $10 million in damages while Amber Heard was rewarded with $2 million since the jury believed that the statements that were made by Johnny Depp’s attorney, Adam Waldman, against Amber Heard did defame the actress. Both the actors have now appealed the verdict.

After the judgment was announced, Johnny Depp thanked the jury for giving him his life back and stated in a statement that was shared on his social media that the best is yet to come. He said that he needed to do this because he wanted the truth to come out for the sake of his children, family, friends and the people who had trusted him for so many years.

Amber Heard, on the other hand, had expressed that she was not happy with the decision and described it as a setback for women who speak up against the people who abuse them. She said in her statement that Johnny Depp's attorneys were able to get the jury overlook the evidence her team had presented in the court along with the key issue of Freedom of Speech. Johnny Depp is slowly getting back to his work where as Amber Heard is seemingly finding it hard to book jobs at the moment.

The actors or anyone who was involved in the case has not yet commented on the situation.

"Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial" is expected to be released by the end of September.
