John Christopher Depp, Typically known as Johnny Depp, is an American actor, musician, and producer. This Golden Globe award winner has won many prestigious accolades and nominations (mainly for three Academy Awards and two British Academy Film Awards).

His famous works in movies and shows like the Pirates Of The Caribbean series, Fantastic Beasts: The Crime Of Grindelwald (2018), Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016), Alice In Wonderland (2010), Dark Shadows (2012), Minamata (2020), Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (2005) and others,  have helped him gain much more fame on the screen. 

This reputed actor is much in the news today owing to his special announcement regarding the "cancel culture". Let me tell you what happened exactly.

Wednesday, that is, 22nd September 2021, marked the celebration of an acclaimed event namely, The Sebastian Film Festival. Johnny Depp was about to receive the event's most esteemed award for his 40 years around career on the screen, but before the receipt of the award, Depp pronounces that "nobody is safe from the cancel culture".

Such a sudden proclamation wasn't expected by the attendees of the show, but his words went viral as soon as he spoke them. 

The 58-year-old actor has already claimed that he is being boycotted by Hollywood following the legal issues between him and his ex-wife Amber Heard. Yesterday's event witnesses his speaking out again.

At a press conference at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Johnny was asked about his views on the cancel-culture. He responded to the same by saying that not a single person out there is safe because of this culture and says that nothing will change if no one dares to speak a sentence on the same. He adds that a single claim or a single allegation is enough to ruin a person's life, according to Deadline. 

He remarks that only one claim may be the one without any grounds, have the capacity to pull the carpet (here implying to change one's life forever). He says that it is not just him but several others who have faced the same plight. But the only thing that lets you survive and surpass such claims is to be armed with the truth.

He addresses the press, saying that whenever there's injustice, you need to show up because the victim suffering needs your help!

His words show the grief of the circumstances he went through in the past. Depp faced off a messy legal battle with Heard back in July 2020 at the High Court in London, where he was accused of being a wife-beater by a U.K. Publication. He was accused by the American film actress of abusing her physically, emotionally as well as verbally after her wedding to Depp. 

She accused him of calling her a 'whore', 'slut', 'fame hungry,' and other abusive words that tortured her severely.
