Johnny Depp remains on the stand for the second day at Fairfax County Court, Virginia, where he is fighting for himself in a $50 million defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Johnny Depp filed a defamation lawsuit for $50 million against Amber Heard after an opinion she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018 where she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse.

On Wednesday, Johnny Depp said that the accusations that Amber Heard had put up against him of domestic violence and abuse has destroyed his career as the minute those accusation went public, he was dropped from a couple of projects and the amount of public criticism he had to face was a whole other thing. The actor said that these allegations pictured him as some drunken, drug addict person who beat women and he knew that it was over for him then. He added that no matter what the result of this trial is going to be, the second the accusations were made against him it went public, the media used it fodder their channels without knowing the facts and that made him realized that he had lost and that's the pain he will carry that for the rest of his life. He also mentioned that he learned that he was fired from the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise in an article and stated that it might not have taken Disney very long to announce it.

In his testimony, Johnny Depp said that Amber Heard had become angry when he started drinking in Australia during the filming of one of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise films, the actress had tossed two vodka bottles at him, which is how he lost the tip of his finger. He explained that when he saw the blood pouring out of it, he went into a panic mode and later realised that he was having a nervous breakdown and mentioned that at the time he could not figure out what was happening.

Johnny Depp added that he had hidden in the bathroom at the time and was later taken to the hospital where he lied about how he lost the tip of his finger because he did not want to disclose that Amber Heard had thrown a bottle at him. He adds that he did not want her to get into trouble at the time, which is why he lied to the doctors.

The actor explained that following the death of his mother, he called Amber Heard and told her that his mother had passed away and that he had made the choice to file for divorce. Johnny decided to go to their penthouse to collect a few things while Amber Heard was attending the music festival, Coachella only to find out through his security a picture of human waste on his side of the bed.

Johnny said that looking at the picture he could only think that it was so out of date, so bizarre, and so grotesque that he could only laugh at it. On asking if the ‘waste’ could have come from the former couple’s Yorkies, the actor said no, he had lived with the dogs for many years and he just knew that it was not them.

The actor recalled how Amber Heard had a habit of demeaning him at every point of his life but he just wanted to try to make it work with her and added that the Amber Heard he knew was not the opponent that she had become. Johnny explained that Amber Heard started to tell him to stop drinking and telling him that he was a weak, alcoholic and messy person who was trying to ruin everything. He explained that Amber Heard’s need for conflict and violence comes out of nowhere and he had learned how to deal with it exactly the way he did when he was a child and was physically abused and verbally abused by his mother.

Johnny Depp revealed that he persuaded Amber Heard to remain in a Beverly Hills hotel bungalow as he tried to wean himself off a powerful prescription opiate painkiller under the supervision of his doctor and that she was not thrilled about it, but she did it. Johnny further explained that he sat on a metal chair for a few days, played one song on loop so that he could focus on the lyrics and the power of the song to help him get through it. Johnny Depp mentioned that Amber Heard’s anger had erupted at his inability to stop using substances.

In May 2014, after returning from Boston, where Johnny Depp was filming for Black Mass, he said that he had paid for Amber Heard and her friends' stay in the Chateau Marmont hotel in LA while he again attempted to kick his habit. It was reported that on the plane the actor had taken two painkillers and to avoid the constant badgering of the actress had locked himself in the airplane bathroom where as Amber Heard had mentioned that it was where the assault took place.

Johnny Depp said that he had also suggested to Amber Heard that she stop drinking and taking drugs (wine, ecstasy, mushrooms, and high-velocity speed). Amber Heard mentioned that the first time Johnny Depp hit her was in 2013 when she made fun of the tattoo that he had gotten for his then-girlfriend Winona Ryder. The tattoo that read "Winona Forever," has now been changed to "Wino Forever." Johnny Depp said that the hit she mentioned did not happen and added that why would he take such great offense to someone making fun of a tattoo on his body? He added that the allegation never made sense to him. It was suggested that maybe she was jealous that Johnny Depp did not get any tattoos in honor of their relationship.

Johnny Depp repeated and was firm with his stand that he did not beat or strike Amber Heard the way she described it in her op-ed and added that violence is never the answer and said that it baffles him to think about why someone would hit someone to make them agree with them.
