Kanye West has finally got his heartiest wish, and now he is just 'Ye.' The artist previously known as Kane West has now officially become Ye and just that, with no last name whatsoever.

The change comes after a Los Angeles judge granted the wish. The judge officially allowed for the file that the rapper and producer, aged 44, had applied for a name change. The communications officer of the Los Angeles Superior Court has revealed the news to AFP as of Monday, 18th October, 20221, and confirmed that the name is finalized.

The rapper, singer, and brand owner of Yeezy had filed for a change of his name from Kanye West to Ye in August this year. His reasons for the change of the name, which was at the time so famously known around the globe, were just stated as 'personal reasons.'

Hence, the award-winning artist will now go by a single name. His new name, Ye, does not include any middle or last name. However, his previous full name was Kanye Omari West.

The singer had shown his preference for the name way back in 2018 when he had released an album with the same name as Ye. Not soon after, he came to be called by the same name, and the nickname stuck in his closest circle.

Explaining his preference for the word, he explained its Biblical reference and how he came to acknowledge the word as holy. In fact, he went as far as to call himself by the name and extend himself the likeness to the sacred 'ye' even back then in 2018. He had revealed in an interview on the radio saying, "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us."

Further explaining the change, he said his name is the reflection of everything out there. His reasoning was, "It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, our everything."

But that is not all of it. The rapper went to release another album on the lines of religious references this year, in 2021. The album named 'Donda' consists of 27 tracks and runs about two hours long. The album release was put off many times due to several releases, and at last, many public listenings of the album took place at various stadiums.

Ye is also making headlines quite often these days for reasons more than his art and music. His personal life was put on a pedestal to watch with the reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians receiving quite a lot of attention as the singer and his wife Kim Kardashian, the SKIMS owner, hit a rough patch in their relationship.

The American socialite, hence, filed for a divorce from the artist earlier this year in February. The couple has been receiving quite the harsh spotlight for some time now as they were dragged down by their marital problems even last year.

Ye and Kim spent most of the lockdown separated as they experienced problems in their affairs at home and seldom communicated. The issue was further magnified when Ye accused his former MIL, Kris Jenner, mother and momager to Kim Kardashian of using her white privilege and confining him to a mental facility.

And yet, his random outbursts on Twitter, bizarre tweets, and run for the presidential office sure showed that something was amiss. He ran for a presidential bid last with a fully furnished campaign which ultimately failed to make any significant impact.

The KKW owner and Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has herself attributed the reason for her filing for the divorce to Ye's personality, which can be easily gauged from his Twitter posts. Yet still, after calling an end to their decade-long marriage, the couple continues to be seen together and are regularly making an appearance on each other's big debuts.

Kim had made an appearance at the 'Donda' listening event at a packed stadium, where she had descended down the aisle in full wedding attire and a floor-length veil draped over her face. Ye, for his part, was seen accompanying Kim Kardashian to her Saturday Night Live show's hosting debut, where she made quite a lot of jokes about her marriage and family in general.

Yet, the reality TV star still keeps her name as Kimberly Kardashian West and did not ask for it to be changed following the divorce. Her children that she shares with Ye, North West, 8, Saint West, 5, Chicago West, 3, and Psalm West, 2, also all bear the former last name of Ye, which was West.

Ye's Twitter and Instagram accounts have already been switched to show his name as Ye, while the username for the handles continues to be @kanyewest.
