It is time for How I Met Your Mother fans to rejoice because the show is finally coming back with an apt sequel. How I Met Your Mother is now to be preceded by How I Met Your Father on Hulu.

The CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother ended seven years ago, but the craze for the series has been carried through with just as much ardent passion. The story follows the life of Robin. Barney, Ted, Lily, and Marshal. Now the spinoff series for the show, How I Met Your Father will star Hillary Duff, and the comedy season is said to have ten episodes on Hulu.

Prior to the show, Hillary had been starring on Younger, a series that went on for seven years and will world along with show maker Pam Fryman who will be directing the series. The director had directed 196 of the total 208 episodes of HIMYM and is the perfect person to carry on its legacy with its sequel.

Also, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of the original series, will also be the creators behind this novel project and are to be aided by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger in the show-running business. Deadline first reported the creators reprising their seats for the new Hulu show as it released their official statement. The statement by Bays and Thomas goes, "Kids, I'm going to tell you an incredible story: It's the story of how two writers got lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons, and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father." They continued, "We are honored by their passion and vision and look forward to helping them tell a legendary new story. Thanks to all the HIMYM fans out there who waited for it.”

While Hillary Duff has already been confirmed as a cast member, a recent update by Deadline has revealed that Kim Cattrall has also been cast for the series.

The story will be taking flight as Sophie, portrayed by Hilary Duff, will begin telling her son the story of how she met his father. Just like the original CBS show, the plotline of the new project will pace forward and backward in time as Sophie retells the tale of her friend group, their adventures into self-realization, their dreams, their various romantic prospects, and how they went on to find love in the age of online dating.

Cattrall gets to play an older version of Sophie and is to be joined on the show by Chris Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Francia Raisa, and Suraj Sharma. The actress had previously earned immense fame for her role in "Sex and the City," where she played Samantha Jones. Her portrayal had led her to win five Emmy Awards nominations. The actress also went to star in two more "Sex and the City" movies and has also acted in the Fox drama "Filthy Rich."

In How I Met Your Father, it will be Kim Cattrall who gets to tell the kids the story to her son about her friends and her ultimate conquest where she met his father. On the other hand, Duff will be playing the 'impulsive and adventurous' Sophie that gets to live a carefree life. As Deadline reported, Sophie is "impulsive and adventurous, and Sophie relies on Valentina's ability to cheer her up when she gets down."

Hillary Duff will also produce the series and will be joined by Adam Londy, who gets to be the co-executive producer of the show. The show is to be produced by the 20th Television studios as they also produced the original series.

As Duff talked with Deadline, she relayed how grateful she is to land the role. The actress shared, "I've been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters, and I'm looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I'm honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby."

She went on to appreciate the creators as she said, "Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can't wait to work alongside them and all of their genius. Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill, and I'm excited to slip my 6 ½s in there."
