Five years ago, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" alum and SKIMS founder Kim Kardashian was tied up at gunpoint and locked in a bathroom by armed robbers in her Paris apartment during fashion week. Twelve people are going to stand trial in Paris over a $10 million jewelry heist.

According to the reports of The Associated Press, after investigating for almost five years, the investigating judges have ordered to send the case to trial and 12 suspects will be facing the trial. There is no date or time set yet, and the officials have decided not to provide any more information.

Kim Kardashian’s representative has also declined to comment on the matter of the Paris robbery. But according to the French newspaper, Le Journal du Dimanche, Kim Kardashian mentioned that the robbers who forced themselves into her Paris apartment took two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex, and other items during the robbery. The total value of the stolen jewelry adds up to around $10 million.

In 2017, the reality TV star shared her horrifying experience for the first time during an episode of her family’s successful show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," where she stated, "They ask for money. I said I didn't have any money. They dragged me out onto the hallway on top of the stairs. That's when I saw the gun clearly, like clear as day. I was kind of looking at the gun, looking down at the stairs. I was like, "I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision. Am I going to run down the stairs and be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it. Either they're going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it, and they don't, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then I'm f—ed. There's no way out. "

Kim Kardashian also shared about the experience during her conversation with David Letterman and called the incident ‘seven or eight minutes or torture’. She recalled the incident and told David Letterman, "They brought in the concierge from downstairs, handcuffed, with a gun up to him. They were yelling at me in French, and I just sat up." The beauty mogul mentioned that she had prepared herself for her death and anticipated that the robbers might sexually assault her as well. She added, "He grabbed me, and pulled me towards him. But I wasn’t wearing anything underneath [my bathrobe]. So I was like, ‘OK, this is the time, I’m going to get raped. Just deal, like, it’s going to happen.’ You know, like just prepare yourself. But then he tied me up, with handcuffs and then zip ties, and duct tape. And then duct-taped my mouth, and then my eyes. Before he duct-taped my eyes — because that was the last thing — I saw, he found my whole jewelry box and held it up."

Kim Kardashian shared the apartment with her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who was out that night, and Kim’s thoughts went in the direction of Kourtney discovering her dead body. She told David Letterman, "I saw him have a gun [held] out to me, and I was like ‘OK, this is it. And I just kept thinking about Kourtney. I kept on thinking, She’s going to come home, and I’m going to be dead in the room, and she’s going to be traumatized for the rest of her life if she sees me."

A source told People that the SKIMS founder cried for help as she managed to squeeze her hands out of the plastic ties and screamed for help from her balcony. Even though she was not injured or physically abused during the robbery, but the horrifying incident has surely left a mental scar on Kim Kardashian’s mind and as a result anxiety attacks are common for her now. The robbery changed her as a person because she truly believes that things happen in one’s life to teach you things.

In January 2017, the French Police managed to arrest 17 people in connection with the armed robbery, of whom 12 are going to face trial soon. The Associated Press also mentioned that Aomar Ait Khedache, who is believed to have orchestrated the entire heist, had written an apology to the beauty mogul from his prison cell. It was reported that the gang that robbed the star at gunpoint had been plotting the robbery for over two years.

According to reports, the suspects will face charges of robbery with a weapon in an organized gang, kidnapping and forcible imprisonment, and criminal association. According to the insider, prosecutors working on the case have not revealed who has been charged or for what offenses.

During the reunion episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian shared, "No expensive items ever come to my home. I have it all taken from security before I even enter my home. I can't sleep if I have jewelry in my safe, or money, or anything at my house. I just don't live my life like that. As far as jewelry, if I'm wearing something, it's borrowed. It's fake." She lastly added that she thinks it’s important to set boundaries while using social media.
